What is the sequel called?
The title is not settled across the available coverage. Warner Bros. slate reporting referred to it as “A Minecraft Sequel,” while PC Gamer used “A Minecraft Movie Squared” in its June 2026 coverage. Neither phrase should be treated here as a definitively confirmed final title. “The Minecraft movie sequel” is the clearest neutral description until the studio identifies its official title. PC Gamer reported in June 2026 that Jack Black said the sequel was filming in New Zealand. The report does not establish the production’s status as of October 8, 2026, so it should be read as a dated update rather than a current confirmation.

Black also described a large production team and “a lot of new” material. Danielle Brooks said the sequel would go “so much deeper into the Minecraft world,” mentioning new biomes, characters and mobs. Those comments offer broad teases, not a detailed plot synopsis. The cited coverage does not establish the sequel’s story, specific setting or how its events connect to the first film. PC Gamer’s Minecraft Live coverage
