Suzie is a real character in Stranger Things, not someone Dustin made up. The friends’ doubts are part of the setup: in the Season 3 finale, Dustin reaches her by radio. Gabriella Pizzolo plays Suzie.
How the show confirms Suzie is real
In the Season 3 finale, Dustin needs Planck’s constant to help the group with its plan. He uses his radio setup to contact Suzie in Utah. Netflix’s Season 3 recap identifies her as Dustin’s girlfriend and describes the exchange: Suzie is annoyed that he has not contacted her in over a week, and asks him to sing before giving him the number.
The conversation is audible to Dustin’s friends, making the moment both a reveal and a joke at their expense: their skepticism about his girlfriend is answered when she responds over the radio.
Who plays Suzie?
Suzie is fictional; Gabriella Pizzolo is the real actor who plays her. Netflix’s official “NeverEnding Story” scene page identifies Pizzolo as Suzie and Gaten Matarazzo as Dustin.

Why does Dustin sing “Never Ending Story”?
Suzie makes Dustin sing the song before she gives him Planck’s constant. Their duet is the scene’s comic centerpiece, but it also confirms that she is an actual person in the show’s story. Netflix’s official Tudum recap puts it plainly: “He calls in his girlfriend, Suzie (Gabriella Pizzolo), who is very real and also very peeved that he hasn’t contacted her in over a week.”
