Spoilers for Cyberpunk: Edgerunners: No. David Martinez is dead. CD PROJEKT RED stated it directly in its Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 announcement: “David is dead. But Night City lives on.”
What happened to David?
David Martinez’s story ends with his death in Cyberpunk: Edgerunners. CD PROJEKT RED’s announcement of the sequel makes his fate explicit rather than leaving it open to interpretation: “David is dead. But Night City lives on.”
Netflix describes the original anime as a standalone, ten-episode story set in Night City. The official descriptions identify it as David’s story, not an ongoing series in which his survival is left unresolved. Netflix’s series page provides its synopsis and production context.
Does Cyberpunk: Edgerunners 2 bring David back?
No return is announced. CD PROJEKT RED describes Edgerunners 2 as a new standalone ten-episode story in the Cyberpunk 2077 world. Its official sequel page also presents a new story with fresh characters. A shared setting does not mean David is alive or that he appears in the sequel.

The announcement settles David’s fate, but it does not promise a cameo or detail every possible reference to him. Claims about a return beyond what the official description says are speculation, not established canon.
