Travis Barker’s Calabasas home, as seen in Architectural Digest’s May 2022 tour, is a one-story retreat shaped around natural materials, art, and an easy connection to the outdoors. Designer Waldo Fernandez softened the rooms rather than leaning into rock-star theatrics, while Barker’s personal collection keeps the house distinctly his.
Which Calabasas home did Architectural Digest feature?
This is the understated residence Barker toured with Architectural Digest (AD) in May 2022—not the different Mediterranean-style Calabasas property AD reported as a rental in September 2023. In the 2022 tour, Barker described the featured house as one story, “just under 10,000 square feet,” and said he had bought it “about 16 years ago.” Those are his approximate statements at the time, not a current property-record check. AD’s 2022 video tour
AD’s profile described Barker as having owned the home for 15 years when he chose to refresh it. The profile and Barker’s approximate figure in the video are contemporaneous descriptions, not necessarily conflicting dates. AD’s 2022 profile
How Waldo Fernandez reshaped the home
Barker credited Kris Jenner with suggesting that he contact interior designer Waldo Fernandez. The design process began about three years before AD’s 2022 profile. Fernandez described the brief this way: “Travis wasn’t looking for a major statement or any kind of caricatured rock-star style.” Barker said, “I loved the simplicity and zen quality of his work. We connected immediately.” AD’s 2022 profile

The resulting rooms rely on subdued colors, linen-covered upholstery, warm wood accents, visible patina, and custom furnishings inspired by midcentury classics. During the tour, Barker summed up the effect in his own terms: “The vibe of this room and my house really was just zen.” That is his description of the atmosphere, not a measurable design feature. Why the living room opens to the backyard
Barker said Fernandez removed a windowed wall in the living room and replaced it with doors that open toward the pool and backyard. That change makes the indoor-outdoor connection a working part of the layout, rather than simply a view from inside. The tour also shows an outdoor kitchen furnished with an RH table and Teak Warehouse pieces. AD’s 2022 video tour AD’s photo gallery

Art and objects that keep the house personal
The restrained palette does not erase Barker’s interests. AD’s tour and gallery document work by Raymond Pettibon, whose art is associated with punk culture, and an Andy Warhol diamond-dust Dracula print in the entry. Barker recalled seeing the Warhol in a New York gallery when he was around 19 or 20; he wanted it because the diamond dust reminded him of skateboard grip tape. The gallery also records a concrete ping-pong table in the game room and a primary-bath tub clad in silver travertine. In the kitchen, it identifies Wolf wall ovens and a range, a paneled Sub-Zero refrigerator, and a Miele built-in coffee maker. These are documented features of the photographed home, not budget alternatives. AD’s photo gallery

A design collaboration connected to Barker’s music
AD’s 2022 profile reported that Barker collaborated with London-based Buster + Punch on skull-themed homewares and accessories, including drum keys, table lamps, and candleholders. It also said the company outfitted his recording studio. That account documents the collaboration at the time; it does not establish which products are currently available. AD’s 2022 profile
What the 2023 rental story does—and does not—describe
AD’s September 5, 2023 report concerned a different Calabasas property: a Mediterranean-style house reported at about 7,200 square feet, with six bedrooms and six-and-a-half bathrooms, listed for rent at $25,000 per month at that time. The same report distinguished it from Barker’s longtime, Fernandez-designed home featured in the 2022 tour. Those listing details are historical and should not be assigned to the tour residence or treated as current rental or market information. AD’s 2023 rental report

Decor ideas inspired by the tour
For a similar natural-material feel, AD’s tour page points readers toward a live-edge wood coffee table; this is a style suggestion, not a claim that the exact table appears in Barker’s home. The same page suggests an electric kettle for a matcha station and a concrete candle. These are adjacent inspiration, not verified contents of the residence, and their current listings are not established here. AD’s 2022 video tour
The family context in the 2022 tour
At the time of the interview, Barker said Kourtney Kardashian had a house a block away and that he planned to turn his home studio into a bunk room so her children would feel comfortable. This is context from May 2022, not a statement about their current homes or living arrangements. AD’s 2022 profile
