Meghan Markle asked Netflix to postpone With Love, Meghan from its planned Jan. 15, 2025 premiere to March 4, saying the delay would let attention focus on people affected by the Los Angeles wildfires. Netflix said it supported the move. PEOPLE’s description of the choice as “easy,” however, came from an unnamed industry insider—not from a named account of Markle’s private deliberations.
What changed about the show’s release?
On Jan. 12, 2025, three days before the scheduled premiere, Markle announced that With Love, Meghan would arrive on March 4 instead. Netflix’s Tudum announcement said the change was made at her request and with the company’s full support amid the continuing devastation from the Los Angeles wildfires. The series was postponed, not canceled.
Markle said in a statement reproduced by Netflix: “I’m thankful to my partners at Netflix for supporting me in delaying the launch, as we focus on the needs of those impacted by the wildfires in my home state of California.” Netflix Tudum published the announcement and statement.
Why did PEOPLE call it an “easy” decision?
In a Jan. 13 exclusive, PEOPLE, in a report republished by Yahoo News, quoted an unnamed industry insider who characterized the postponement as an “easy” decision. The insider’s reasoning was that launching a show centered on joy and hosting would be difficult while local residents were losing homes in the fires.

That explanation is the insider’s interpretation, not a direct account from Markle of how she weighed the decision. The verified public explanation is narrower: Markle requested a delay, Netflix supported it, and her statement connected the move to the needs of people affected by the wildfires.
What is With Love, Meghan?
Netflix describes the program as a lifestyle series produced by Markle that combines practical how-tos with candid conversations. Cooking and gardening are among the activities featured in the Netflix Media Center synopsis.

The public announcement and the anonymous insider’s comments offer different kinds of information: Netflix and Markle state the reason for the schedule change, while the insider offers an opinion about why that choice made sense in the circumstances. The cited coverage does not establish that commercial concerns, ratings, or a strategy to avoid competing with wildfire news caused the postponement.
