His sister, Madison, fell amid the pressure and was separated from him; the Pink Bows Foundation says she died from compression asphyxia. Ten people died in the surge at the Houston festival on November 5, 2021. Ty’s account is a survivor’s testimony, not a complete independent reconstruction of what happened or a final legal finding about responsibility.
What Ty Dubiski remembers from the crowd
In the first media interview described by the Pink Bows Foundation, published November 5, 2025, Ty told Rolling Stone about attending the festival with Madison and friends. His account describes the crowd growing increasingly packed and pressurized before Travis Scott’s set, with people pushing from multiple directions.
Ty says Madison fell and he could not lift her amid the pressure. A subsequent push separated them. He eventually made it to the edge of the crowd, but could not reach her by phone. He later learned she had been taken to a hospital and had died.
Those details are Ty’s recollection of an overwhelming, fast-moving event. The Foundation’s account identifies the incident as a crowd surge that pinned attendees in an enclosed area; it says Madison died from compression asphyxia. Ten people died in the crowd surge, according to the Foundation.

What is established—and what the available account does not settle
Ty described the crush as preventable, saying: “What happened at Astroworld was foreseeable, according to crowd safety experts, and if telling my story helps saves lives, that’s what I’m here to do.” That is his stated view and purpose in speaking. It should not be mistaken for a court ruling or a complete official finding.
The Foundation’s current Showstop training page reproduces an excerpt attributed to the Houston Police Department’s investigation conclusion: “Emergency Operations Plan (EOP) did not clearly indicate communications between entities for show stoppage.” This is an excerpt quoted on the Foundation’s page, not the full HPD investigation. On its own, it does not establish the whole factual record, a final legal conclusion about responsibility, or whether a particular intervention would have prevented the deaths.

How Madison’s family turned grief into safety work
The family established the Pink Bows Foundation in Madison’s honor. The Foundation describes two strands of its work: event-safety education and Safe Space activations where attendees can pause and decompress. It says its Safe Spaces are staffed by trained mental health advocates. Ty’s interview account also describes the family working with event-safety experts to develop Showstop Procedure training.
What the Foundation says Showstop training covers
The Foundation describes Showstop as a protocol and course for event organizers and public-safety personnel. Its current training page lists a one-day course, eight CPD-accredited hours, and a certificate of attendance. Eligible professionals with at least three years of relevant experience may take an optional professional certificate exam; the page says a score of 85% or higher earns that certification. These are the Foundation’s published course details and may change.

- Super loud survival whistle: double tubes emergency whistle can provide up to about 120 decibels, enough to be heard at long distance.
- Premium Quality: Aluminum Alloy Material, strong and durable.

- Water-resistance camping whistle: Be used in all-environment all-weather, rainy day, humid weather with excellent airflow design.

The relevant safety questions are practical: who monitors crowd conditions, who has authority to call for a show stoppage, and how that decision is communicated between event entities and public-safety personnel. The quoted HPD excerpt points specifically to communication about stopping a show, but does not by itself answer how every responsibility was assigned or carried out that night.
Madison’s message and the family’s public work
In a Foundation collaboration announcement, Madison is quoted as saying: “For those who do well, must also do good. Always give back!” The page dates that statement to 2021. The Foundation’s account also describes a collaboration with Makeup Junkie Bags: its Madison Fan Girl Bundle includes a stadium-approved clear crossbody bag, and the Foundation says half of the proceeds support crowd-safety education, Showstop training, and Safe Space activations. The bag is part of a family-linked initiative, not a crowd-crush safety measure.

The lasting effect on Ty
The interview rendering describes Ty’s acute grief and anxiety in later crowds. His account of being unable to reach Madison after they were separated gives that aftermath a specific shape: a person who had found a way out, but could not find his sister or know what had happened to her. His decision to speak publicly connects that personal loss to the family’s work on event safety, without making his testimony a substitute for the full investigation or legal record.
