Why did Seinfeld apologize?
In a public statement published by Entertainment Weekly on May 9, 2024, Seinfeld said he had meant to say Stern must feel “surrounded,” but instead used “outflanked,” which he recognized sounded insulting. He added: “Anyway, it was bad and I’m sorry, Howie. I still love you. Please forgive me.” Seinfeld called Stern a friend in the statement. Entertainment Weekly.

On his radio show on May 13, Stern said Seinfeld had called him, apologized at length and asked to come on the show. Stern accepted the apology but declined the visit, saying he did not want to make the situation more awkward. Was the dispute resolved?
By Stern’s account, yes. He said the apology was accepted and that a further on-air conversation was unnecessary. The account of the private call comes from Stern’s public remarks; the call itself is not independently documented in the cited coverage.
