Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library mails a free, age-appropriate book each month to enrolled children from birth to age five. To sign up, check whether your home address is covered on the official Imagination Library site, then follow the registration directions for your area. Availability depends on local coverage.
Check whether your address is covered
The program lists the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia, and the Republic of Ireland, but participation in a country does not mean every community or address is served. Start with the official Imagination Library site and check local availability before trying to enroll.
If the online route does not answer whether your address is eligible or how to register, contact the local program partner identified for your area. Local service areas and administrative directions can differ.
Register your child through the local program
- Visit the official site: Open imaginationlibrary.com and look for the availability or registration instructions for your location.
- Follow the local directions: Use the enrollment route shown for your area. If you cannot resolve a local question online, ask the local partner whether your address is covered and how to submit registration.
- Wait for mail delivery: Once enrolled, books are mailed to the registered child. The program sources do not establish one universal first-book delivery date, so check local instructions for timing.
Who can receive books, and what does it cost?
The Imagination Library describes its service as available to children from birth until age five, regardless of family income. In its United States program description, an enrolled child receives one book by mail each month at no cost to the family. You do not need to buy a product or pay an enrollment fee to receive the books described by the program.

The U.S. program page says local partners cover book and shipping costs. Local funding and coverage determine where service is available; they do not mean families must donate to enroll.

Dolly Parton’s Imagination Library is a book-gifting program associated with the Dollywood Foundation. It sends selected, age-appropriate books to registered children. The program overview published in October 2024 said it spanned five countries and gifted over 3 million books each month; that is the program’s figure for that publication, not a live or independently audited count.
Rank #2
Parton has described the aim of the program in terms of the dreams books can help children imagine: “The seeds of these dreams are often found in books and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world.” The statement appears on the program’s homepage and is attributed there to Dolly Parton.
