A New York trial court dismissed former assistant Leslie Kuhn’s lawsuit against Howard Stern, Beth Ostrosky Stern and two related companies on July 29, 2026. An October 6 report says Kuhn appealed, but no appellate outcome was reported. Her claims about a hostile work environment and questionable business operations remain allegations, not findings by the court.
What did Leslie Kuhn allege?
Kuhn sued Howard A. Stern, Beth Ostrosky Stern, One Twelve, Inc. and The Howard Stern Production Company, Inc. Her April 5, 2026 complaint says she first worked in connection with The Howard Stern Show and later took on executive-assistant and household-management duties. Reporting described her work at the Sterns’ Southampton residence, including staff scheduling, payroll, household operations and responsibilities connected to Beth Stern’s cat fostering and rescue activity. Kuhn contended that her termination followed a hostile work environment. The complaint described “immense pressures on the household created by irresponsible and untenable animal rescue and fostering operations occurring on-site” and “massively disorganized and questionable business operations and accounting practices.” Those are Kuhn’s characterizations in the complaint; the court’s dismissal did not establish that the alleged conduct occurred.
Why did the lawsuit involve confidentiality agreements?
Kuhn also sought declarations about confidentiality agreements she said she had not validly signed or that should not prevent her from speaking about her employment. The defendants moved to dismiss the case and sought sanctions on April 29, 2026. Their memorandum disputed her claims and called the suit a “thinly veiled attempted shakedown”—an argument by defense counsel, not a court finding or a direct statement verified from Howard or Beth Stern. Defendants’ memorandum.

What did the court decide?
On July 29, 2026, New York Supreme Court Justice Melissa A. Crane dismissed the action. A September legal analysis says the court treated the dispute over a May 2022 confidentiality agreement as moot because the defendants had agreed not to enforce it, leaving no justiciable controversy over that agreement. The court wrote, as quoted in the analysis: “Accordingly, there is no justiciable controversy over the Confidentiality Agreement dated May 2022 (Doc. No. 2).” The analysis also reports dismissal of Kuhn’s claims concerning a 2025 nondisclosure agreement. Pospis Law’s decision analysis.
The disposition addressed the claims and confidentiality dispute before the court; it should not be read as a factual determination that Kuhn’s workplace allegations were true or false.

No appellate result was reported in the October 6, 2026 account. That report says Kuhn appealed the July 29 dismissal and is asking a New York appellate court to revive her challenge to the agreements. The appeal’s outcome therefore remains unresolved in the available reporting; the current appellate docket number and any later activity are not confirmed here. Law Commentary’s October 6 report.
