Before her son Kevin’s June 2025 wedding, Tatum O’Neal said her anger toward her former husband, John McEnroe, was gone. Kevin said she would give a speech, and later coverage reported that both parents attended his wedding to Fern Cozine in Napa Valley. The available reports do not describe how O’Neal and McEnroe interacted at the event or offer a detailed account of her feelings afterward.
What Tatum O’Neal said before the wedding
In a February 2025 report, Us Weekly quoted O’Neal saying, “The anger is gone.” The remark described her feelings ahead of Kevin’s wedding, rather than a reflection made after the ceremony.
Kevin said his mother would make a speech at the wedding. That plan, together with O’Neal’s comment, indicated a warmer tone around the family occasion; it did not establish that she and McEnroe had resumed a close relationship.
Did both parents attend Kevin’s wedding?
Yes. Evoke reported that Kevin McEnroe and Fern Cozine married in Napa Valley in June 2025 and that both O’Neal and McEnroe attended. That later report confirms their presence at the same wedding, but does not document the particulars of their interaction there.

What their earlier comments suggest about their relationship
O’Neal had previously described seeing McEnroe at a reading for their son’s novel. AOL’s 2025 article reproduced a statement she had given to People in 2015: “I would say there isn’t a relationship but there is respect now,” she said. The comment offers earlier context for the distinction between respect and closeness; it is not a post-wedding update.
O’Neal and McEnroe married in 1986, and Us Weekly describes their marriage as ending in divorce in 1994. Their history helps explain why O’Neal’s pre-wedding remark drew attention, but the wedding reports support only a limited conclusion: she said her anger was gone, and both parents attended their son’s wedding. They do not establish a reconciliation or reveal what O’Neal felt during or after the ceremony.
