The Masked Singer contestants are paid, but the amount is not public. Showrunner James Breen said they receive compensation, though not enough to make the show something people do for the money. The winner’s Golden Mask trophy is separate: it comes with no cash prize.
Are contestants on The Masked Singer paid?
Yes. In a 2023 interview with CinemaBlend, showrunner James Breen said contestants receive compensation and that no one is technically doing the show for free. He added that participants are not paid at a level that makes them take part for the money.
Breen mentioned that many contestants are SAG-AFTRA members as context. His comments do not establish that union membership sets every contestant’s fee or contract.
How much do they make?
No dollar amount, average, range, or per-episode rate is disclosed in the available reporting. The interview does not say whether contestants’ compensation varies by celebrity or by how long they remain in the competition. It also does not establish a standard appearance fee, episode bonus, expense reimbursement, or other specific payment terms.
