Public sources do not establish how close Shiloh Jolie is to each of her siblings. Angelina Jolie has described her children as close to her, but that is not the same as describing their relationships with one another. Public name choices and limited family coverage do not prove either closeness or estrangement.
What has Angelina Jolie said about her children?
In a January 2024 interview with the Wall Street Journal Magazine, Jolie described her own bond with her children collectively: “They are the closest people to me and my life, and they’re my close friends,” as reported by Entertainment Tonight. Her words speak to her relationship with her children, not to how close Shiloh is to any particular sibling.
In a 2026 interview with L’Officiel, Jolie said, “They’re definitely individuals.” As ELLE reported, her comments concerned supporting her children as people with separate lives and interests. She did not describe Shiloh’s relationships with her siblings.
Do the children’s public name choices say anything about their relationships?
No reliable conclusion about sibling closeness follows from a surname. The Los Angeles Times reported that Shiloh’s legal petition to remove Pitt from her name was granted in August 2024. It also noted that Vivienne used Jolie in a Playbill and Zahara used Jolie at a sorority presentation. These are public name choices; they do not reveal how close the sisters are to one another.

Shiloh’s attorney, Peter Levine, urged media outlets to “be more careful in their reporting, especially when covering a young adult who has made an independent and significant decision following painful events, and is merely following legal process,” the Los Angeles Times reported. That comment concerns coverage of Shiloh’s legal decision, not her ties with her siblings.

The Associated Press reported that the parents’ long-running settlement kept many details private. The public coverage cited here does not include a direct account from Shiloh or one of her siblings describing their relationship or ranking how close they are.

A public appearance, separate interests, a name choice, or silence in an interview cannot fill that gap. Nor do reports about the parents’ legal disputes establish what the siblings feel about one another. Without an attributable first-person account about a specific sibling relationship, claims about closeness or estrangement would be speculation.
