Britney Spears’s reported sale of music-catalog rights to Primary Wave is the clearest recent event that could add a substantial amount to her wealth. But neither the sale price nor her current net worth has been verified publicly, so the title’s $70 million figure should not be treated as a confirmed present-day total.

What is known about Britney Spears’s catalog sale?

Variety reported on February 11, 2026 that Spears sold her song catalog and an unclear number of other rights to music publisher Primary Wave. The publication said the deal’s details were unclear and representatives declined to comment. The Guardian also reported that the terms and price were not public.

One account of the transaction’s scope comes from Us Weekly, which says documents it obtained describe the transfer of 100 percent of songs Spears wrote and recorded before December 30, 2025, associated royalties, demos and files, plus permission-based use of her name, image and likeness to promote the catalog. Those specifics are Us Weekly’s description of the documents, not a publicly confirmed contract. Variety’s reporting says Spears has songwriting credits on nearly 40 catalog songs and that the likely scope included artist royalties and publishing rights, while stressing that details were unclear. It is therefore not established that all master recordings, all publishing interests or all name-and-likeness rights were transferred.

How much did Spears reportedly receive?

No confirmed sale price has been disclosed. Us Weekly attributes a figure of “close to $200 million” to an unnamed source; treat it as an estimate, not an official transaction value. The amount Spears personally received after taxes, fees and any other costs is also unknown. A reported gross sale value is not the same as take-home cash.

The transaction may convert some future royalty income into an upfront payment, but the exact rights sold and payment structure have not been established in the strongest public reporting. Celebrity Net Worth’s suggestion that the catalog may have generated $8–13 million a year before expenses is its speculative calculation based on assumed catalog multiples and unconfirmed sale values—not a reported royalty statement.

Is Britney Spears’s net worth still $70 million?

There is no public, verified balance sheet establishing Spears’s current net worth. Celebrity Net Worth published a post-sale estimate of roughly $115–150 million in February 2026, but that is a modeled range based on assumed sale-price scenarios, fees and taxes, rather than a verified accounting of her assets and liabilities. The $70 million figure in the original headline is therefore best understood as an estimate, not a confirmed current total.

For historical context, Celebrity Net Worth says court filings valued Spears’s estate at about $60 million in 2021, around the end of her conservatorship. That older reported figure cannot establish what she is worth today. Net worth is the value of assets minus liabilities; neither a catalog transaction value nor a reported book deal alone reveals that total.

What other reported income may contribute?

Us Weekly reports that Spears’s 2023 memoir, The Woman in Me, was part of a $15 million book deal. The figure is the reported value of the deal, not confirmed take-home income, and does not establish when payments were made or how much she retained after costs. The memoir offers Spears’s own account of her life and conservatorship, which ended in 2021, but it is not evidence of her current finances.
