Kraven the Hunter is a Sony film about a Marvel character, but it is not established as an installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU). The 2024 movie was marketed as a standalone origin story: Peter Parker does not appear, and the film has no mid- or post-credits scene. Its Spider-Man-related characters and hints are not confirmation of an MCU crossover.
What kind of Marvel connection does Kraven have?
“Marvel connection” can mean several different things. Kraven belongs to the wider Spider-Man character world, the film is part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, and the MCU is a separate film continuity. Those facts overlap, but they do not make every Sony film about a Spider-Man character an MCU movie.

Marvel character connection
Sony describes Kraven the Hunter as the origin story of one of Marvel’s iconic villains. Kraven, Rhino and Chameleon are tied to the Spider-Man character world, even though Spider-Man himself is absent from this film. Sony’s film page identifies it as a 2024 standalone story.
Sony Spider-Man Universe connection
Director J.C. Chandor discussed the film as part of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, while stressing that its story was designed to stand on its own. In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, he said, “the rest of those worlds don’t really matter” to the film’s structure. That describes his creative approach; it does not place the movie in the MCU.

MCU connection
The MCU is the continuity of films made by Marvel Studios. Sony’s Spider-Man character rights and its collaboration with Marvel Studios have created overlap between the companies’ films, but that arrangement is not evidence that Kraven the Hunter is set in the MCU.
Does Kraven the Hunter appear in the MCU?
There is no confirmed MCU appearance or crossover in the released film. Sony presented Kraven the Hunter as a standalone story, and Chandor said he aimed to isolate the movie rather than require viewers to follow other entries. The available on-screen evidence does not establish it as an MCU installment.

Sony’s 2015 announcement about its agreement with Marvel Studios said that the new Spider-Man would first appear in a Marvel Studios film within the MCU. It also said Sony would continue to finance, distribute, own and retain final creative control of Spider-Man films, while the companies explored opportunities to bring MCU characters into future Spider-Man films. That statement explains the collaboration around Spider-Man; it does not say that every Sony film featuring a related character belongs to Marvel Studios’ continuity. Sony’s February 9, 2015 announcement sets out those terms.
What happens in the ending? (Spoilers)
Peter Parker is not in the movie. Sergei Kravinoff becomes Kraven, and the story pits him against Aleksei Sytsevich, who becomes Rhino. At the end, Kraven’s brother Dmitri is revealed as the Chameleon, according to TIME’s ending explainer.

The Spider-Man-related hints
A hallucination sequence includes spiders and imagery resembling Spider-Man’s familiar logo. TIME also reports that an unnamed New York doctor connected to the characters’ transformations is likely Norman Osborn. That identification is an interpretation, not an explicit on-screen confirmation.
Chandor told TIME that the final image was meant to make viewers believe Kraven could inhabit a world where the comic storyline Kraven’s Last Hunt is real. These details may suggest directions for a future story, but they are not a Spider-Man appearance or proof of an MCU connection.

Does Kraven the Hunter have a post-credits scene?
No. TIME reports that the film has neither a mid-credits scene nor a post-credits scene. The ending’s character reveal and Spider-Man-related imagery occur within the movie, not in a scene after the credits.
How to read the film’s franchise clues
Separate what the movie and its filmmakers establish from what viewers might infer. Sony’s standalone positioning and Chandor’s comments describe the intended scope; Spider-Man-adjacent characters and imagery provide references, not a confirmed crossover. Unless the film or its makers explicitly establish MCU placement, those clues do not turn it into an MCU story.
