How did Chelsea Green and Matt Cardona meet?
Cardona credited Cody and Brandi Rhodes with bringing them together. In an August 2022 interview with TV Insider, he recalled: “I won’t say I was peer pressured into dating you, but Cody [Rhodes] and Brandi set us up.”
He described their first date turning into a second: “I went on one date, which turned into two dates.” Those details come from the couple’s recollection in that later interview.
What was their relationship like before they worked together?
Green said, “Our relationship was built entirely outside of wrestling.” Cardona recalled that they were not working together or talking about wrestling as a focus of their life together. Green said the shared profession was not what they discussed during the first two or three years of the relationship. These are the couple’s descriptions, not a separately documented day-by-day chronology.

When did Matt Cardona propose, and why were wedding plans delayed?
In July 2021, Green said Cardona had proposed about two and a half years earlier and that they had planned to marry the previous year. She said the COVID-19 pandemic disrupted those plans. Travel for her family in Canada was also a practical consideration, as reported by Wrestling Inc, which covered her podcast remarks.
The “about two and a half years” interval is Green’s approximate account; it does not establish an exact proposal date.
When did they plan to get married?
Green announced that the couple planned to marry on December 31, 2021, according to the same July 2021 Wrestling Inc report. That is the wedding date they announced after the earlier plan was disrupted.

In 2022, Cardona referred to “our real wedding, our GCW wedding,” making clear that he meant two separate events. The couple had also considered a wrestling-show wedding at The Miz’s house, but said the pandemic disrupted that idea. It should not be mistaken for their real ceremony. The distinction appears in their TV Insider interview.

Cardona also recalled Green joining him as a surprise partner at Impact Wrestling’s Slammiversary, and said working together initially felt unusual. That later professional overlap was separate from how their relationship began.
