Linz, best known as Alex Pruitt in Home Alone 3 (1997), stepped away from screen acting after a childhood career that included film, television and voice work. Later reports describe a path through university study and work outside entertainment, but they do not establish why he left acting or confirm his current job.
Alex Linz’s best-known roles
Linz became widely recognizable as the resourceful Alex Pruitt in Home Alone 3. His film credits also include One Fine Day (1996) and Max Keeble’s Big Move (2001). He voiced young Tarzan in Disney’s animated Tarzan (1999). TV Insider’s credit list traces his screen work from the mid-1990s through Choose Connor (2007); that is his final listed screen credit, not evidence of a public retirement announcement. TV Insider’s biography and credits and Encyclopedia.com’s entry also record award nominations connected with several of his early performances.

What he did after acting
University study
A 2016 Bustle retrospective reported that Linz attended the University of California, Berkeley, graduated in 2011 with a BA in Science, Technology, and Society, and performed with the campus improv group Jericho!. The same account says he later pursued a master’s degree in urban and regional planning at UCLA, completed in 2017. These are details reported by Bustle, rather than an official university record. Read Bustle’s 2016 retrospective.
Work outside entertainment
Entertainment.ie reported in 2023 that Linz was working in Los Angeles as a legal researcher and lead science instructor. That is the latest employment detail in the available reporting; it should not be treated as confirmation of his job in 2026. Entertainment.ie’s profile gives that time-bound description.

Did Alex Linz quit acting for a “normal job”?
The record supports a substantial change in direction: Linz’s listed screen credits end in 2007, and later accounts describe education and employment beyond acting. But the available sources do not include a first-person explanation from Linz about leaving the profession, nor do they establish that he described his later work as a “normal job.” The phrase may be a catchy way to frame the contrast, but it is not a verified account of his motives or his own view of the change.
Independent reader supportYour contribution helps us test, update, and keep practical guides available for everyone. What can be said about his life now?
The careful answer is that Linz moved from a childhood screen career toward study and other work, with Entertainment.ie’s 2023 report identifying legal research and science instruction. The reporting does not establish whether those roles continued after 2023. Without a newer, reliable source or a statement from Linz, his present-day occupation and personal reasons for stepping away from acting remain unconfirmed.
