Pinto was born in Switzerland while her parents were visiting family, then grew up in Redlands, South East Queensland. She told PerthNow that her mother’s family is Swiss and her father is Portuguese.

She explored acting through drama classes and acting school. In a 7NEWS interview published July 24, 2024 and updated the following day, Pinto said she took classes with Grant Thompson and booked the role three months after signing with an agent.
Who does Hailey Pinto play on Home and Away?
Pinto plays Abigail Fowler, the youngest of the Fowler siblings. In the July 2024 casting coverage, she described Abigail as “sassy, headstrong, energetic” and said the character arrives in the Bay with “a lot of personal demons to fight” and brings drama. Those are Pinto’s descriptions of a fictional character, not statements about her own life.

7NEWS reported that Pinto was due to appear from August 8, 2024. That was the planned start date reported at the time, not a current broadcast schedule.
Why was the role a milestone?
PerthNow’s July 24, 2024 profile described the casting as Pinto’s first paid TV role and quoted her calling it her “first paid TV audition,” which she said she got unexpectedly. In a later interview, The West Australian quoted Pinto describing Home and Away as the first acting job for which she had been paid. She said that after graduating, it took about a year and a half to get an agent, and she booked the show three months later. Her accounts make clear why the casting marked a significant step in her early career.
Pinto also framed the series as a challenging learning opportunity. In the PerthNow interview, she said, “I just want to start growing and learning,” and advised aspiring actors: “Get to know yourself first, you’ll find a lot of answers to your acting questions within yourself.”

In 2025, The West Australian and Now To Love/TV WEEK reported that Pinto was nominated for the Graham Kennedy Award for Most Popular New Talent at the Logies. The West Australian also reported on her reflections on Abigail’s addiction storyline; it concerns the character and should not be read as information about Pinto’s personal life. The available reporting confirms a nomination, not the award result.
