A separate 2026 report called a video on her skincare brand’s Instagram account makeup-free, but that description should not be treated as independent verification of every image shared online.
What Johansson has said about going without makeup
Johansson’s clearest account is her own: “I go out of the house and I don’t even wear makeup sometimes — I am presenting myself in a proud way and everything it has taken to get here.” She also said, “What I used to see in the past as perceived flaws, I now hold a lot more acceptance.” Both comments were reported by Good Morning America on January 11, 2024.
That is a first-person statement about her experience, not proof that any particular photograph is makeup-free. Lighting, camera processing, editing, and styling can affect how a face appears, and the available reporting does not authenticate every picture labeled “no makeup.”
What the reported 2026 video shows—and what it cannot establish
A July 2, 2026 report by The Daily Beast’s The Looker described a video on The Outset’s Instagram account as makeup-free. That is the publisher’s characterization of the clip. Without independent verification, it is more accurate to attribute the label to the report than to present it as a confirmed description of Johansson’s appearance.

Her account of acne and makeup for work
Johansson has also spoken about acne and the pressure she felt to conceal it. In an interview with CBS News, she recalled: “I felt like I had to wake up and, like, cover up all this acne before I got to work.” CBS News published the interview on April 12, 2026.
In a British Vogue interview published May 30, 2023, she said, “I relied a lot on really incredible make-up artists to conceal my teenage and adult acne.” She also described a cycle of irritation: “I had this horrible cycle of drying out my skin and then it would get more irritated.” Her comments give context to her remarks about acceptance; they do not establish what is happening with her skin in any particular image.

The Outset connection, without assuming a product effect
Johansson co-founded The Outset with Kate Foster and has discussed the brand and its products in interviews. Allure’s October 17, 2023 interview and Vanity Fair’s 2022 interview cover the brand and its beginnings. British Vogue also discussed her routine, including products such as cleanser, Night Cream, and Boosting Oil.
Those are accounts of her own involvement and reported routine, not evidence that a product caused a particular appearance or will have the same effect for someone else. A celebrity’s appearance alone cannot establish skincare efficacy or suitability for a reader’s skin.
