Afterward, President Donald Trump nominated Oz to lead the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS); the Senate confirmed him in April 2025, and CMS currently lists him as its administrator.
Why did The Dr. Oz Show end?
Oz announced his candidacy for Pennsylvania’s open U.S. Senate seat in November 2021. His television show ended in January 2022, bringing a 13-year run to a close, according to his official biography.
The campaign also affected where the program could be shown. Contemporary reporting said stations serving Pennsylvania households pulled the show after Oz declared his candidacy, amid concerns about broadcast equal-time requirements. That is different from saying a political authority ordered a nationwide cancellation: the show’s ending coincided with his campaign, while station decisions affected its availability in some markets. Did Dr. Oz win the Senate election?

What did Dr. Oz do after the campaign?
In November 2024, President Donald Trump nominated Oz to lead CMS, an agency within the Department of Health and Human Services that administers federal health coverage programs. In an April 10, 2025 release, the agency described its budget as $1.7 trillion and said it was responsible for health outcomes for more than 160 million people.
