The headline refers to Chad Stahelski’s Highlander reboot, starring Henry Cavill. A January 2026 report confirmed that Cavill shared two first-look images, but the available reporting does not establish what the later March 2026 headline’s “dark new images” depict. The reboot’s release date and viewing plans have not been confirmed in the sources cited here.
Which movie is the headline about?
It is the new Highlander, directed by Chad Stahelski and starring Henry Cavill. IMDb’s syndicated listing identifies the March 23, 2026 Collider article “Henry Cavill’s Colossal Fantasy Remake Gets Dark New Images” as written by Adam Blevins. The listing does not include the article text, so its headline alone cannot verify the images’ contents or context. IMDb’s listing identifies the story; the full text was not available there.
What has been reported about the images?
On January 30, 2026, Variety reported that Cavill shared two first-look images from the reboot. That report confirms the existence of those images, but it does not establish that they are the same images referenced by the March headline. Without the March article’s full text or a primary source for its images, their exact contents and provenance remain unconfirmed.
Who is involved in the reboot?
Variety’s January 30 report names Stahelski as director and Cavill as the star, alongside Russell Crowe, Karen Gillan, Djimon Hounsou, Dave Bautista, Marisa Abela and Max Zhang. This is a reported cast list, not confirmation of every character or the final cast lineup.

Variety also reported that production had started after a delay associated with an injury Cavill sustained during preparation. The report does not, by itself, establish a release schedule.
How does it connect to the original Highlander?
The original Highlander was released in 1986. The property later expanded through sequels, television series and spinoff novels, as Variety’s report notes. The new film is described in a secondary film reference as a fantasy-action reboot based on the franchise, but that description is not an official synopsis and does not settle how the reboot relates to earlier continuity.
