The season ran from 5 June to 26 July 2026; the official event page lists no upcoming dates, so the details below describe the past season, not tickets currently on sale.
What made Lightscape distinctive?
The event transformed garden paths in Perth’s Kings Park for a winter walk among illuminated displays, artworks and sound installations. Its route through the Western Australian Botanic Garden was about 2 km long. The Government of Western Australia gave the more precise figure of 1.8 km and described more than 20 large-scale installations; the launch announcement also counted more than 20 light and sound installations. The government’s March 2026 announcement framed the trail as a meeting of international artists, Western Australian community creators and the state’s distinctive flora.
Which installations stood out?
Herbum
French artists TILT created Herbum, a sculptural display of stems reaching up to eight metres. Its scale made it one of the event’s most striking named works.
Mycelium Network
UK artist Stevie Thompson’s Mycelium Network evoked the interconnected networks of fungi, translating an unseen natural system into a light installation.

Other sights along the trail
The June launch announcement highlighted light-morphing shadow lanterns, a kaleidoscopic tunnel of squares, illuminated flowers suspended high in the canopy and towering sculptures. The 2026 event map also listed works such as Winter Cathedral, Fire Garden, Sky Full of Stars, Ribbon Tunnel, Infinite, Neon Tree, Fish are Jumping, Blossom, Caring for Country, Rays of Light, Seed Head Path and Seed Heads. The map is a program reference; it does not establish that every listed work was a new commission.
How long did the walk take?
The event FAQ recommended allowing approximately 90 minutes to enjoy the full trail. The path was designed around garden routes, but it included steep gradients, so it was a walk to plan for rather than a quick stop. Comfortable walking shoes are a sensible choice for the outdoor route.

Was the trail wheelchair accessible?
Visit Perth reported that the route used paths but included steep gradients. Some sections could be challenging for visitors using mobility devices; detours might be available. What did admission cost in 2026?
These were historical prices for the concluded 2026 season, not current offers. Visit Perth listed general admission at $44 for adults and $32 for children, with Wednesday and Thursday off-peak admission at $36 for adults and $22 for children. The Government of Western Australia’s March announcement described starting prices of $36 for adults, $22 for children and $96 for a family pass. The figures reflect different ticket options and publication contexts, not one universal price.

Visit Perth also listed a four-person family pass, an Anytime Pass and a Super Flexi Pass. Timed general and off-peak tickets required a selected session, while the Anytime and Super Flexi options offered broader entry flexibility at higher prices.
How did visitors get there?
Parking at Kings Park was extremely limited on event nights. During the 2026 season, Kings Park promoted a free shuttle between Perth Busport and the park; the map marked a drop-off at Wadjuk Way. Visit Perth also pointed visitors to Perth public transport and recommended checking Transperth’s website or app for route options and times. Those were arrangements for the 2026 event, so they should not be assumed for a future season.

What happened in bad weather?
Lightscape was outdoors. The event FAQ advised checking the forecast and dressing for the conditions. The event was expected to proceed in rain or wind unless the weather posed a safety hazard. If organizers cancelled for safety, ticket holders would be notified and offered rebooking, or a refund if rebooking was not possible. Visit Perth said a weather-risk cancellation decision would be made by 2 pm on the day.
The visitor guide also noted that some lighting sequences included flashing lights, but no strobe lighting, and that haze could be used in some areas.

How popular was the event?
The Government of Western Australia reported more than 400,000 visitors since Lightscape’s sold-out 2023 debut. That is a cumulative figure across seasons, not attendance for 2026 alone. Environment Minister Matthew Swinbourn described the 2026 edition as a new chapter for the event in a March announcement, when ticket sales were being promoted.
Are there future Lightscape dates?
As of 8 October 2026, the official Kings Park Lightscape page listed no upcoming dates. The 2026 season is over, and no future schedule or ticket availability is established by the available event information.
