After This Is Us ended in 2022, Milo Ventimiglia’s first major television role was Charlie Nicoletti, a con artist in ABC’s 2023 romantic drama The Company You Keep. He also executive-produced the series. His later screen credits include the 2024 film Land of Bad, the 2025 video game Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and the 2026 film I Can Only Imagine 2.
His first major post-This Is Us role was a sharp change of character
Ventimiglia played Jack Pearson, a family patriarch, for six seasons of This Is Us. In The Company You Keep, he became Charlie Nicoletti, a contemporary con artist who falls for Emma, an undercover CIA officer. ABC described the series as a romantic drama based on the Korean series My Fellow Citizens. It premiered on February 19, 2023. ABC’s series biography gives the show and role details.

The contrast was both on screen and behind the scenes: Ventimiglia starred in the series and served as an executive producer through his DiVide Pictures banner. The Television Academy’s 2023 interview describes Charlie as a swindler who falls for an undercover CIA agent.
Why he wanted to change gears
Speaking with journalists at a Television Critics Association event, Ventimiglia said of playing Charlie: “I couldn’t just put on a character anymore. I just had to do this and just be myself.” The Associated Press reported that he wanted a physical and professional change after This Is Us. The AP report also quoted his estimate that he brought back roughly “90% of the ‘This Is Us’ crew” for the new series. That figure is his estimate, not an independently audited production statistic.

The clearest shift is from an ensemble family drama to a contemporary romantic thriller, with Ventimiglia taking on a larger production role as an executive producer. His subsequent credits also show a range of formats: a feature film, a video game, and another feature in which Sony identifies his character. Each project offers a different kind of role; the available sources do not establish a complete inventory of his work since the finale.
