Haliey Welch’s Talk Tuah live recording at VidCon 2025 in Anaheim grew rowdy, with repeated “Hawk Tuah!” chants, comedian Whitney Cummings telling attendees to quiet down, and audience members reportedly leaving during the conversation. The event’s clearest connection to the $HAWK crypto controversy came during audience Q&A, when Welch was asked about the project and replied, “Does this look like the face of a girl who could talk to you about crypto?”
What happened at the VidCon event?
Welch recorded her Talk Tuah podcast live at VidCon 2025 in Anaheim, California. Comedian Whitney Cummings joined the discussion; a June 25 report by the Times of India also identifies co-host Chelsea Bradford.
Reports described a noisy audience, persistent “Hawk Tuah!” chants and Cummings repeatedly scolding attendees. They also said people left during the recording. Futurism’s June 20 account said about half the crowd remained by the end, citing Mashable’s event coverage. The Times of India similarly reported that approximately half the original audience had exited. These are reported estimates, not a verified headcount.
How did the $HAWK controversy enter the conversation?
During audience questions, an attendee asked Welch about the $HAWK cryptocurrency project. As quoted by Futurism and the Times of India, she answered: “Does this look like the face of a girl who could talk to you about crypto?” That exchange directly linked the live event to the controversy surrounding the project.

Futurism reported that Welch had said she was cooperating with plaintiffs’ attorneys in a lawsuit against her crypto project partners. That report does not establish the case’s current status, determine responsibility for the project, or amount to a legal finding of fraud. The audience’s response at VidCon is a separate matter from the allegations and legal questions concerning $HAWK.
