In a 2013 interview, Vicki described the marriage as having deteriorated despite efforts to repair it. She said they tried counseling and took a vacation, but “It got to a place where we didn’t like each other.” She also recalled that being together had become harder than being apart, even though she missed Donn after the separation.

Her clearest summary was that Donn was “a great man,” but they had “drifted apart and couldn’t figure out a way to get back together.” Vicki also acknowledged that both had contributed to the problems, saying in hindsight she wished she had worked harder and that each of them had “messed up” in some areas. Bravo’s report of her 2013 interview quotes these reflections.
When they separated and divorced
Vicki filed for dissolution of marriage in Orange County Superior Court in October 2010, after 16 years together. At the time, she described the split as amicable and said, “It’s just time.” PEOPLE’s contemporaneous report quoted her statement that Donn would remain an important part of her life.

Bravo’s relationship timeline says the couple married in 1994, renewed their vows on camera in 2009, and finalized the divorce in 2014. The filing and the final divorce were separate events; the marriage did not end legally in 2010. Bravo’s timeline records those milestones.
Why Vicki later said she regretted filing
Vicki’s account became more remorseful in later years. In a 2019 after-show interview, she said she had been “out of the marriage mentally” when she filed, but that Donn had not been prepared for it. She said, “I hurt him, and I broke his heart,” and acknowledged that she regretted what she had done. Bravo reported her comments.

Bravo’s timeline also quotes Vicki saying in 2015 that she would not have divorced Donn if she could do things over. That regret does not contradict her earlier explanation: she could believe the relationship had broken down while later wishing she had handled it differently or worked harder to save it.
