Hayden Christensen and Rosario Dawson describe Anakin and Ahsoka’s reunion in “Shadow Warrior” as more than a lightsaber duel: it is a lesson about facing the past and choosing to move forward. In an Entertainment Weekly interview published May 31, 2024, the actors discuss their own history, the spare stage where they filmed, and what the encounter meant to them.
What Christensen and Dawson said about reuniting
Their connection predates Star Wars. Christensen and Dawson said they first met as students at New York’s Lee Strasberg Theatre & Film Institute in 1995. Dawson recalled feeling proud when Christensen was cast as Anakin, while Christensen called working with her on the project special. For both, meeting again through characters whose histories were already intertwined made the reunion unusual and meaningful.
In “Shadow Warrior,” the characters meet in the World Between Worlds. The scene shifts between a lightsaber fight and Anakin guiding Ahsoka through imagery associated with both light and dark. The actors described it as a meeting of their characters’ shared past, as well as a reunion between people who had known each other for a long time.
How the lightsaber scene was filmed
Limited rehearsal together
Dawson said the schedule made it difficult for the two actors to get together before filming, so they did not really practice the scene together beforehand. She remembered the stage as unusually bare and theatrical compared with the work they did on the Volume, and said they spent roughly two full days filming on the platform. These are the actors’ recollections in the interview, not independently verified production records.

What the encounter means to the actors
Christensen described this Anakin as a “post-life” wise master: a version of the character that can encompass both sides of the Force. In his reading, the lesson is about reconciling with the past so a person can move forward.

Dawson framed the change through Ahsoka. She said the sequence shows Ahsoka releasing conflict tied to her past and choosing to live. “I really loved that whole idea of her choosing to live,” she said. Those are the actors’ interpretations of the scene, rather than an official Lucasfilm explanation.
Is Anakin returning in Ahsoka Season 2?
In the 2024 interview, Christensen said he did not know whether Anakin would appear again, and Dawson said she hoped their characters’ relationship could be explored further. That answer reflected what they knew at the time. StarWars.com’s August 15, 2026 announcement later said Ahsoka Season 2 is scheduled to premiere January 20, 2027, only on Disney+, and described a teaser showing Anakin, played by Christensen, challenging his former Padawan. The announced date is subject to change.
