What is the prequel about?
Set in Naples in 1977, the story follows Pietro Savastano before he becomes the criminal figure seen in Gomorrah. He and his friends get by through petty theft in Secondigliano. Pietro is drawn toward local boss Angelo ‘A Sirena, while his feelings for Imma suggest another possible path. Sky describes the series as a criminal coming-of-age story.

The show is based on Roberto Saviano’s bestselling book Gomorra, published by Arnoldo Mondadori Editore. For readers who want to explore that literary source, search for Roberto Saviano Gomorra book and verify the edition and marketplace listing before buying; it is the source novel, not a prequel tie-in guide.
What does the production wrap mean?
Beta Film reported that filming wrapped in Naples and released first images of the series. Its announcement described a six-part prequel and initially expected a January 2026 premiere on Sky Italy and NOW. Sky later gave the Italian launch date as 9 January 2026. The wrap was a production milestone, not a release date in itself. (Beta Film; Sky Group)

How does it fit into the Gomorrah story?
This is a six-part origin story about Pietro’s youth, rather than a new season of the original series. It is also distinct from the feature film The Immortal, which Beta Film describes as a narrative bridge between seasons four and five of the original Gomorrah. (Beta Film)
