Joan Vassos and Chock Chapple’s plans to keep homes in Maryland and Kansas while seeking a New York place together were about balancing family and work—not a breakup. Their living plans have evolved since that November 2024 report, but later coverage still described their permanent location as undecided.
Why Joan and Chock planned to keep separate homes
Joan and Chock met on the first season of ABC’s The Golden Bachelorette and got engaged in the 2024 finale. In November 2024, they were discussing a New York place where they could spend time together, not announcing that either would leave home permanently.

Joan said she was not leaving Maryland, where her children and grandchildren live. Chock had business commitments in Kansas. Their reported plan was to travel between those ties and New York, rather than make an immediate move to one shared home. Life & Style, November 15, 2024
How their living plans changed
| Report date | What was described | Was it a settled decision? |
|---|---|---|
| November 2024 | Looking for a New York place while continuing to spend time in Maryland and Kansas. | No. It was a plan to balance existing family and work ties. |
| December 2025 | Joan planned to bring belongings from Maryland to New York for December, with Chock joining her. They expected to stay until January 7 and might look for a place. | No. The report described a temporary stay and a possibility, not a permanent move. Us Weekly, December 7, 2025 |
| February 2026 | An AOL report excerpt said they expected to live together eventually but had not selected a city; Joan reportedly imagined keeping their existing houses and having another place together. | No. This was a reported future possibility, not a confirmed housing decision. AOL, February 19, 2026 |
Did their separate homes mean they broke up?
No. Joan addressed the speculation that followed when she did not post about the relationship. In a red-carpet interview on December 5, 2025, as quoted by Us Weekly, she said, “If I don’t post, then they’re like, ‘They broke up,’” and explained that she and Chock were comfortable enough to get out of the habit of posting about each other. She said they were not breaking up.

When will Joan and Chock live together?
The reports do not establish a date or a final city. They describe a couple working around family and business commitments, a month-long New York stay, and the possibility of eventually sharing a place while retaining their current homes. That is different from a confirmed permanent move-in plan.
