HBO Max’s U.S. prices are now $10.99, $18.49, and $22.99 per month, depending on the plan. The October 2025 increase that brought those rates into effect was not the service’s first: TechCrunch reported that HBO Max had raised prices previously, in June 2024. The 2025 change applied to all three tiers, with different increases for each.
Current HBO Max prices in the U.S.
HBO Max’s official U.S. plan page lists the following prices before applicable taxes. Annual-plan savings are calculated against paying the monthly price for 12 months; HBO Max describes them as 16% savings.

Prices and plan features are listed on HBO Max’s U.S. plan page. The page also identifies a discounted Disney+, Hulu, and HBO Max bundle, but the pricing material does not state its price.
How much did HBO Max prices rise in October 2025?
TechCrunch reported on October 21, 2025, that the U.S. monthly price rose by $1 for Basic with Ads, $1.50 for Standard, and $2 for Premium. Annual prices rose by $10, $15, and $20, respectively.

According to TechCrunch’s October 21, 2025 report, new subscribers paid the higher rates immediately. Existing subscribers moved to the new price on their first billing cycle on or after November 20, 2025.
Was the October 2025 increase really HBO Max’s first?
No. The “first time” wording in the original announcement headline is not an accurate description of the service’s price history: TechCrunch reported that the previous HBO Max increase was in June 2024. The October 2025 change was another increase, not the first.

Which HBO Max plan fits your household?
Basic with Ads
Basic with Ads costs the least. It offers two simultaneous streams and Full HD 1080p, but includes ads and does not list downloads or live sports among its features.
Standard
Standard adds 30 downloads and live sports while retaining two streams and Full HD 1080p. It may suit a household that wants those additions without paying for Premium’s higher stream limit or 4K and Dolby Atmos support.

Premium
Premium is the option for households that need more simultaneous streams, downloads, or higher-resolution and audio options. Its four-stream allowance is reduced to two for sports, and 4K Ultra HD and Dolby Atmos depend on availability.
HBO Max’s official plan page lists the features and limits; confirm current terms there before subscribing, since plan details can change.

What Warner Bros. Discovery said about the increase
At the Goldman Sachs Communacopia + Technology Conference, Warner Bros. Discovery CEO David Zaslav argued that the company’s content quality gave it room to raise prices, saying, “We think we’re way underpriced.” TechCrunch quoted the remarks in its report. They represent the executive’s view of the service’s value, not an independent assessment.
In its Q1 2026 shareholder letter, Warner Bros. Discovery said the Q4 2025 U.S. price increase helped accelerate streaming revenue and that it continued to see limited churn impact from it. That is the company’s account of the change, not independent proof that the increase caused the reported revenue performance or had little effect on cancellations.
