Rockstar says the trailer was captured entirely in-game on PlayStation 5. That makes “worth the wait” a fair editorial verdict for the new story and presentation details—not a claim about measured audience reaction.
What Trailer 2 adds
The trailer gives the game’s two leads a clearer story setup. Rockstar’s synopsis describes Jason and Lucia as people who know “the deck is stacked against them.” An easy score goes wrong, drawing them into a criminal conspiracy across the state of Leonida and leaving them dependent on one another. Vice City is named as the setting.
That premise establishes the broad direction of the story—an attempt to survive a situation that has spiraled beyond the pair’s control—but it does not explain the full conspiracy, identify every other major character, or reveal how the plot ends. The trailer supplies atmosphere and context, not a complete account of the campaign.
How the trailer was made
Rockstar’s official video description says: “This trailer was captured entirely in-game from a PlayStation 5, comprised of equal parts gameplay and cutscenes.” The distinction matters: the footage is presented as a blend of interactive play and cinematic scenes, rather than as a trailer made solely from cutscenes. The statement describes the source and composition of this trailer; it is not a promise about final performance, resolution, or frame rate on every platform.

The video also credits “Hot Together” by The Pointer Sisters. It is a supporting detail in a trailer built primarily around the characters, setting, and story premise.
Release date, platforms and editions
As of Take-Two’s June 24, 2026 announcement, Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to launch on November 19, 2026, for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar Support lists Standard and Ultimate editions. Take-Two announced the following prices on June 24, 2026; prices and availability may change.

Rockstar’s platform information lists PS5 and Xbox Series X|S. The available official information does not establish comparative performance between the console versions, so there is no sound basis here to say one runs better.
Buying physical does not mean getting a disc
Rockstar says the physical retail box contains a code for the digital download and that “A disc will not be included in the box.” Buyers should therefore have access to the relevant console and an internet connection to redeem and download the game. Rockstar Support says the physical version is expected to be available starting November 12, 2026, to support pre-loading; check the current support information and retailer details near release, since availability can vary by country.
