Peter Parker’s Gwen Stacy returns in Marvel’s Gwenpool (2025)—but not as the familiar Gwenpool. She appears as a violent, Weapon X-style version of the identity, putting her on a collision course with Gwendolyne Poole, the original Gwenpool. The story’s announcement raises the question of who brought Gwen Stacy back; it does not reveal the answer.
Which Gwen is back?
The Gwen Stacy in this story is Peter Parker’s long-dead love interest. She is distinct from Gwendolyne Poole, the character who introduced the Gwenpool identity. Both are part of the 2025 story, and the premise hinges on the name being associated with two different people.

| Character | Identity and story role |
|---|---|
| Gwen Stacy | Peter Parker’s Gwen Stacy returns in a violent, Weapon X-style form using the Gwenpool identity. |
| Gwendolyne Poole | The original Gwenpool, whose identity is now being used by Gwen Stacy as well. |
The available reporting does not establish a detailed comparison of their abilities. It frames the conflict around the return itself, Peter’s reaction, and Gwendolyne’s concern about the Gwenpool identity being used in two places at once.
What makes her return unusual?
Marvel’s premise presents this Gwen Stacy as a darker, hyper-violent Gwenpool bringing justice to a battle-scarred New York City. Gizmodo’s Sabina Graves described her as a bloodthirsty killing machine with Deadpool’s Weapon X abilities. That is the setup for this particular story, not evidence that Gwen Stacy has been resurrected across Marvel continuities.
#1 Best Overall
The story also brings Kate Bishop and Jeff the Land Shark into its orbit. Writer Cavan Scott described the crossover of the characters’ worlds this way: “What an absolute honor! To tear both Gwenpool AND Spider-Man’s worlds apart? Yes please! Gwen Stacy is back from the grave and deadlier than ever. Weapon-X style abilities? Check. A line in killer put-downs? You’ve got it.”
Who caused Gwen Stacy’s resurrection?
That remains the hook, not a solved mystery in the available announcement and reporting. Marvel’s official synopsis establishes the darker Gwenpool premise, but it does not explain how Gwen Stacy returned or who was responsible. The question of what her return means for Gwendolyne Poole’s identity is likewise part of the tension rather than a resolved answer.
