The holiday episode is “Blue Bayou,” the tenth episode of NCIS: Origins Season 1. CBS’s synopsis sets up Gibbs’s first Christmas without his wife and daughter, but it does not identify the coping mechanism teased by the sneak-peek headline. The available clip description points to an encounter with his landlady without explaining what Gibbs does, so naming a specific behavior would go beyond what is established.

That setup makes the holiday episode a story about grief as well as Gibbs’s early career. CBS’s synopsis establishes the emotional circumstances, but it does not describe the specific behavior suggested by the sneak-peek headline.
What is Gibbs’s surprising coping mechanism?
The precise coping mechanism is not established in the available information. An indexed description of the sneak peek says Gibbs finds unlikely company in his landlady, but it does not explain what he does or identify that interaction as his coping strategy. It would be misleading to infer a particular habit or action from that brief clue.

So the safe takeaway is limited: the preview appears to pair Gibbs with his landlady as he faces his first Christmas without his family. The specific “surprising” mechanism needs to be confirmed in the clip itself; CBS’s episode synopsis alone does not reveal it.
