Shannon Price said in a 2025 television special that Gary Coleman was able to speak to emergency responders after his fall. Her recollection, reported by People in an AOL-syndicated report, has not been independently confirmed in the sources reviewed. Police had reported that the medical examiner ruled Coleman’s death accidental and closed the investigation.
What Shannon Price said about Coleman’s final moments
In A&E’s 2025 special Lie Detector: Truth or Deception, Price said responders asked Coleman what had happened after his fall. As quoted in People’s report on the episode, she recalled him answering: “I don’t know, I think I blacked out. I think I had a seizure.”

Price also said Coleman fell in the kitchen, rather than down stairs. Both details are her account of the events, as reported from the program; they are not independently established findings in the sources reviewed.
What is known about the fall and his death
Coleman fell at the Santaquin, Utah, home he shared with Price on May 26, 2010. Contemporary coverage of the 911 call reported that Price said she heard a loud bang, found him bleeding and sought help. Coleman died at a Provo hospital on May 28 after an intracranial hemorrhage, according to CBS News’ report on the call and his death.

In October 2010, police said the medical examiner had ruled the death accidental following an accidental fall and that the investigation was closed, as reported by the Associated Press through CBS News.
What the 2025 special and polygraph do—and do not—establish
The episode revisited the case through Price’s recollections and a voluntary polygraph. People reported that the examiner told Price that “deception” was indicated when she was asked about Coleman’s fall, and later said, “You failed the exam regarding Gary’s fall.” Those are statements attributed to the program’s examiner, not a police finding or court determination.

Price also denied causing the fall, saying, “I didn’t hurt him, I didn’t push him. I didn’t do any of that,” according to the same report. A&E’s announcement of the series described it as using professionally administered polygraph tests; that description does not make a test result proof of what happened. Deseret News’ coverage of the episode also noted the official accidental ruling and closure of the investigation.
A&E said Price had never been charged in connection with Coleman’s death. The special’s renewed account and its polygraph segment do not change the official outcome reported by police.
