Spoilers for the series finale of Found. Gabi publicly admits she kidnapped Hugh “Sir” Evans and kept him captive in her basement for nine months. The confession is a step toward atonement, but the finale leaves Sir badly injured and bleeding without confirming whether he survives. NBC canceled the drama after two seasons, so the broadcast story never resolves that cliffhanger or the consequences of Gabi’s confession.
What happens in the Found Season 2 finale?
Gabi and Margaret work together to rescue Jamie from Lena, Sir’s sister. They succeed. Gabi gives Lena a chance to escape, but Lena pursues her into the police presence and is arrested.

At a press conference, Gabi makes the secret public. She says: “A smart and courageous young man reminded me yesterday that secrets and lies keep us chained to the past. So here’s the truth. A year ago, I abducted Hugh Evans and held him prisoner in my basement for nine months. I, Gabi — I, Gabrielle Mosley, am a kidnapper.” TV Insider reproduces the statement.
The episode then cuts to Trent being called to Sir’s cell. Sir is lying there seriously injured and bleeding. The scene raises the possibility that he is dying, but it does not establish that he is dead.

Why does Gabi confess?
Showrunner Nkechi Okoro Carroll described the confession as necessary for Gabi’s healing: Gabi could not publicly advocate honesty and accountability while concealing her own crime. In Carroll’s view, admitting what she did is part of atonement and self-forgiveness. She said she had known from the show’s original pitch that Gabi would confess at the end of Season 2: “I’ve known all along.” That refers to the planned confession, not Sir’s fate. Carroll’s interview explains her thinking.
Shanola Hampton, who plays Gabi, interpreted the moment as Gabi “taking the power back finally” and taking ownership of herself. That is Hampton’s reading of the character’s arc. Her comments on the finale offer that perspective.

Is Sir dead at the end?
No answer is given onscreen. Sir is shown badly injured and bleeding, but the episode does not confirm whether he dies or survives. Carroll described his fate as a mystery that would be answered later. Neither outcome should be treated as established by the aired finale.
What happens to Jamie and Lena?
Gabi and Margaret save Jamie. Lena is arrested after Gabi gives her an opportunity to get away and she instead chases Gabi into the police presence. These events are resolved in the finale, unlike Sir’s fate.

Why does the series end on a cliffhanger?
NBC canceled Found after two seasons, shortly before the May 15, 2025 finale. The episode therefore became the series ending, even though Carroll’s interviews discussed storylines planned for a possible Season 3. Those plans are not events shown onscreen: the attack on Sir and the fallout from Gabi’s confession remain unresolved in the broadcast story. Carroll’s interview and Hampton’s comments discuss the intended continuation.
