What happens in season 3?
The story begins 152 years after season 2. Apple describes the Foundation as more established while the Cleonic Empire has dwindled. The two powers face a shared danger in the Mule, a warlord who seeks control through physical force, military power, and mind control.
Hari Seldon, Gaal Dornick, the Cleons, and Demerzel are among the central figures in the conflict. In the finale, “The Darkness,” Gaal and the Second Foundation take the fight to the Mule as Empire’s legacy suffers a catastrophic blow. The preceding episode is “The Paths That Choose Us,” released September 5, 2025. Apple’s episode listing identifies both installments.
