What is the Disney Fortnite collaboration?
On February 7, 2024, The Walt Disney Company and Epic Games announced a multiyear collaboration to create an open, persistent games and entertainment universe connected to Fortnite. Disney said people would be able to play, watch, shop and engage with stories and characters from Disney, Pixar, Marvel, Star Wars, Avatar and more. What was previewed at D23?
At D23 in August 2024, Disney previewed a Marvel-themed Battle Royale season, new Star Wars characters and items, and The Incredibles as upcoming Fortnite content. Are The Incredibles in Fortnite?
Disney announced at D23 in August 2024 that The Incredibles would be the first Pixar characters coming to Fortnite that fall. That announcement is evidence of a planned activation at the time, but it does not by itself confirm present-day availability. What Star Wars content has come to Fortnite?
Star Wars provides concrete examples of the collaboration moving beyond the original announcement, though these remain distinct activations rather than the launch of the entire connected universe.
2025: Battle Royale season and an in-game premiere
In 2025, Epic announced a Star Wars-themed Battle Royale season. Disney also announced an in-game premiere of Star Wars: Tales of the Underworld ahead of the series’ May 4, 2025 Disney+ debut. 2026: Star Wars tools for Fortnite creators
A Disney update in May 2026 described an official Star Wars toolkit for Fortnite creators, including characters, vehicles, environments and other assets for building original Star Wars experiences. How much Fortnite participation has a Disney event drawn?
Disney reported that Fortnite’s 2020 Marvel Nexus War with Galactus live event drew more than 15.3 million concurrent players. That is Disney’s figure for one past event; it is not a count of all Fortnite users or a measure of the collaboration’s current reach. Disney’s report
What the collaboration does—and does not—mean
The announcement sets out a long-term ambition to connect Disney stories and experiences with Fortnite. The later Star Wars season, in-game premiere and creator toolkit show different ways a franchise can appear in Fortnite. They should not be conflated with a confirmed launch of one complete, unified Disney universe: the official announcements cited here describe a plan and individual activations, not that every named franchise is already available together.
