The July story described the move as speculation, not a confirmed plan, and did not report a completed sale of the house.
What was reported about the City Beach home?
On 27 July 2025, PerthNow republished reporting from The West Australian that agent Scott Swingler had privately shown potential buyers through Simpson’s Dampier Avenue home in City Beach. The property was reported as listed for $6.5 million. That was a reported listing price, not a confirmed sale price, and the article did not say the home had sold. PerthNow’s report said the agent had not immediately returned calls.
The listing prompted speculation that Simpson might return to his hometown of Melbourne. At the time, however, neither the article nor a quote from Simpson confirmed a move.
Was Adam Simpson moving back to Melbourne?
In a later update, SEN reported on 18 November 2025 that Simpson and his family were moving to Melbourne the following week. That report makes the move more than July’s property-driven speculation, but it described an upcoming move rather than independently confirming that the family had already relocated. SEN’s November report also said Simpson would continue travelling to Perth weekly for business.

How does Simpson’s Carlton role fit in?
SEN described Simpson’s Carlton position as a part-time director of coaching consultancy, working with senior coach Michael Voss and the football department. Simpson characterised it as “a bit of a mentoring role with Vossy and the other coaches” and said, “It’s a consultancy role, a mentoring role for younger coaches, and I’m there for Michael.”
According to SEN, Simpson expected to attend Ikon Park about twice a month, with more hands-on involvement during pre-season and occasional advice during the season. He said the role was not a route to replacing Voss: “That’s definitely not the intent,” he said, adding, “There’s no sinister plan, there’s none of that.” SEN also reported his statement that he had no ambition to coach at senior AFL level.
Did Simpson sell the City Beach house?
The reports cited here do not establish whether the City Beach property was sold, withdrawn, or remained unsold. The $6.5 million figure belongs to the reported listing; it should not be treated as a completed transaction price. Nor do the reports establish that a house sale caused Simpson’s family move.

Simpson’s earlier Quindalup holiday home is a separate property event. In late March 2025, PerthNow reported that the three-bedroom home sold for $1.7 million, after Simpson bought it in January 2022 for $1.41 million. The report said it sold within days of being listed. Simpson had not returned calls, and the reason for that sale was not known. PerthNow’s Quindalup report does not connect that transaction to the later City Beach listing or Melbourne move.
