The 100% critics’ score in the November 2024 headline was a launch-period snapshot for FX’s historical true-crime series Say Nothing, not its current score. Rotten Tomatoes now lists it at 94% from 52 critic reviews; its separate audience score is 87% from 250+ ratings. The series adapts Patrick Radden Keefe’s nonfiction book and follows the 1972 disappearance of Jean McConville into the wider history and human cost of the Troubles.
Why did Say Nothing have a 100% critics’ score?
BGR reported the 100% figure on November 10, 2024, just before the series’ debut. It described the adaptation as based on Patrick Radden Keefe’s 2018 book, Say Nothing. That figure records the critic-review snapshot reported at the time; it should not be read as the show’s current rating. BGR’s November 10, 2024 article provides the original headline context.
What is the show’s current Rotten Tomatoes score?
Rotten Tomatoes currently lists Say Nothing at 94% on the Tomatometer, based on 52 critic reviews, and 87% on the Popcornmeter, based on 250+ audience ratings. These are different measures: the Tomatometer is the share of counted critic reviews classified as positive, not an average score out of 100; the Popcornmeter is the audience measure. The figures are the listing observed in 2026 and may change as reviews and ratings are added. See the current Rotten Tomatoes listing.
So the 100% headline and today’s 94% are not contradictory: they refer to different points in time. The 87% audience figure is not a critics’ score.

What is Say Nothing about?
Jean McConville’s disappearance
The series begins with the 1972 abduction of Jean McConville, a mother of ten taken from her Belfast home and murdered. Her disappearance becomes a way into the history of the Troubles, rather than the sole subject of a conventional crime investigation.
A wider account of political violence
Spanning four decades, the drama follows IRA members and the political convictions, armed conflict, and consequences surrounding the case. FX’s synopsis, quoted by BGR, says: “Say Nothing explores the extremes some people will go to in the name of their beliefs, the way a deeply divided society can suddenly tip over into armed conflict, the long shadow of radical violence for all affected, and the emotional and psychological costs of a code of silence.”

BGR also quoted TV Guide characterizing the series as “an elegiac drama about the psychological toll of political violence, told in such a way that its perpetrators are not heroes or villains, just people clinging to the idea that what they’re doing is right, to paraphrase a line from the show.” That description captures the series’ focus on people and moral choices within a conflict, not just the mechanics of a disappearance.
