Watch the Skies—originally released in Sweden as UFO Sweden—reached U.S. theaters in May 2025 in an English-language version that paired dialogue recorded by the original cast with AI-adjusted mouth movements. Flawless described it as the first visually dubbed feature shown in American cinemas; that milestone refers specifically to its theatrical release.
What is Watch the Skies about?
The Swedish science-fiction adventure follows Denise, a teenager investigating her missing father alongside a group of UFO investigators. Victor Danell directed the film, which was produced by Crazy Pictures and XYZ Films. New Atlas reported on the film and its English-language release.

What does “visually dubbed” mean?
In a conventional dub, new dialogue is paired with the original image, even when the actors’ visible mouth movements do not match the translated speech. For Watch the Skies, the original cast recorded English dialogue, and Flawless’s TrueSync technology altered mouth movements in the existing footage to align with those performances. It was a post-production localization process, not a reshoot—and the English voices were recorded by the actors, not synthesized.
New Atlas described TrueSync as analyzing an actor’s performance, creating a volumetric 3D representation of the face, and adjusting mouth movements. Crazy Pictures’ production account likewise described AI-adjusted lip movements matched to English dialogue recorded by the cast. New Atlas reported that the actors retained their Swedish accents.

When did the film reach U.S. theaters?
New Atlas reported that U.S. theatrical screenings were scheduled to begin May 9, 2025. Flawless later identified AMC Theatres as its partner for the May release and called the film the first visually dubbed feature shown in American cinemas. The “first” claim is Flawless’s and is specifically about theatrical exhibition in the United States, not every kind of dubbed film or release worldwide. Flawless’s October 27, 2025 announcement also called it the first visually dubbed feature launched on a subscription video-on-demand service.
Where can you watch Watch the Skies?
Flawless announced a U.S. Prime Video launch beginning October 27, 2025. That announcement establishes a past launch, not current catalog availability. Check Prime Video’s live listing in your region before relying on it; the available information does not establish whether the film is still streaming there today.

The production accounts describe how the English version was made, but they do not provide an independent audience study or technical benchmark establishing how often viewers notice the adjustment. Albin Pettersson of Crazy Pictures told New Atlas the team hoped audiences would experience the film as English-language without noticing the transformation, and said the result exceeded its expectations. Those remarks express the makers’ expectations and reaction, not measured audience findings.

New Atlas also reported that the technology was said to offer up to 50% potential cost savings compared with reshooting scenes for dubbing. The report does not identify a cost model or independent validation, so this should not be read as a verified saving on Watch the Skies.
New Atlas reported that the system includes rights management intended to ensure AI-powered editing happens only with artists’ consent. The available account describes that as a feature of the process; it does not independently verify how consent was obtained or enforced for this production.
