Fed Square’s free King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard event was held on Friday 24 October 2025, so it is not an upcoming gig. The all-ages Main Square performance was billed as an improvised electronic rave set, with Merve opening. The same announcement also promoted events for 27 November and New Year’s Eve 2025; those dates have passed too.

What kind of King Gizzard performance was it?
Rather than a conventional guitar-led set, the band was billed to perform live, unscripted, improvised electronic music using its Eurorack modular setups. The announcement presented it as a one-off rave set. Fed Square’s 20 October 2025 announcement described the broader program of free events.
Who opened, and what was the schedule?
Berlin-based, Naarm-born DJ and producer Merve was the opening act. Fed Square’s listing published this schedule:
#1 Best Overall
| Time | Program |
|---|---|
| 7pm | Merve |
| 8pm | Changeover |
| 8:20pm | King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard |
The listing also said the show would be livestreamed on the band’s YouTube channel. That confirms the planned livestream, not whether a replay remains available.
What access arrangements did Fed Square list?
The event listing marked the site wheelchair accessible and noted lift access. For the event date only, Travellers Aid was scheduled to be at Flinders Street Station from 4pm to 11pm to help people reach the designated accessibility zone beside the sound booth. These were historical arrangements, not current service details. Fed Square’s listing acknowledges the Wurundjeri Woi-wurrung people as Traditional Owners of the land.

For New Year’s Eve, Fed Square said doors and programming would begin at 7pm. The announcement did not establish current programming or availability for any of these past events.

What did Fed Square say about the events?
Katrina Sedgwick OAM, MAP Co Director & CEO, said in the announcement: “Fed Square has cemented its place as one of Australia’s most exciting homes for live music, drawing huge crowds to free events right in the heart of Melbourne.” The announcement referred to “tens of thousands” attending free outdoor shows “this year,” but gave no exact count or measurement method.
