No one was eliminated after Dancing with the Stars’ Season 28 Disney Night in October 2019. Contemporary coverage described viewers reacting in different ways: some objected to another delayed elimination, while others speculated that the show might make up for it with a double elimination later. Those examples do not establish how the audience as a whole felt, and no official explanation for the decision was reported.
What happened on Disney Night?
PopCulture reported that the October 2019 episode ended without a contestant going home. It was the third no-elimination episode in the first five weeks of Season 28, according to its account: PopCulture’s report on the episode.

The immediate consequence was straightforward: the remaining contestants stayed in the competition for another week. The available coverage does not establish why the show made that choice, so it should not be attributed to a specific production decision or rule.
Why were some viewers frustrated?
Some reactions cited in contemporaneous coverage objected to the absence of an elimination, especially given that it was already the third such episode in the season’s first five weeks. For viewers expecting the usual weekly cut, another reprieve meant waiting longer to see who would leave.

Other reported reactions anticipated that the show could hold a double elimination later. That was speculation from viewers, not confirmation of a planned format change. The coverage offers examples of online responses, not a representative poll or a measure of how common either view was. AmoMama’s report on fan reactions also described frustration and double-elimination speculation.

The 2019 Disney Night was not the only time a DWTS episode ended without an elimination. In the 2023 semifinals, all five couples advanced to the finale, and their scores and viewer votes carried forward to the following week, ABC News reported: ABC News’ recap of the 2023 semifinals.

That was a different season and episode, so its carryover arrangement does not explain what happened in 2019. ABC quoted contestant Ariana Madix describing the 2023 outcome as “amazing but truly shocking”; she was speaking about that semifinals result, not the Disney Night decision.
