A 2019 Global News report tells of Heather Lundberg Green arranging a gender-reveal-style photo shoot for her transgender son, Adrian Brown, after he came out ahead of his 20th birthday. The report describes Brown as her son—not her daughter—so the title’s reference to a daughter is not confirmed by this source. The family’s reason for the shoot was to make a new family photograph with Adrian “as his true gender.”
What the family did
According to Global News, Lundberg Green bought supplies at a local dollar store and asked her boyfriend’s daughter to take pictures. The shoot borrowed the visual idea of a gender-reveal photo session, but it was a celebration of Adrian’s identity after he came out as transgender, not an announcement about a baby’s sex.
“I wanted a new family photo with Adrian as his true gender,” Lundberg Green told Global News. The report says Brown came out ahead of his 20th birthday. He recalled that it took him two weeks to tell his mother and younger brother after deciding to transition.
How Adrian Brown described the experience
Brown told Global News that he had not felt comfortable growing up as a girl and described transitioning as “a long time coming.” He also said: “It was like finding the last piece to a puzzle I had been searching for, for 19 years.” These are Brown’s comments as quoted in the 2019 report.

Why the photos were shared more widely
Lundberg Green initially posted the pictures privately for close friends and family. After a friend suggested that sharing them more widely might help others, she made the post visible to a broader audience. She said the response renewed her hope, while expressing concern that unconditional parental love was not the norm. As Global News quoted her: “When this post started to take off, everyone was celebrating a mother’s unconditional love — and the fact that that’s not the norm right now is terrifying to me.” She also said, “I have my hope renewed by how much support we’ve received.”
What the report does—and does not—establish
Global News published and updated its account on February 9, 2019. It consistently identifies Brown as Lundberg Green’s transgender son. The discrepancy with a title describing a daughter is unresolved in the available account; it does not establish that the report concerns a daughter.
