Erza Scarlet’s strongest armor depends on what “strongest” means: raw stated power, proven combat results, defense, or versatility. There is no verified official top-ten ranking, so this is an editorial comparison based on those criteria. Nakagami, Armadura Fairy, and Purgatory are leading candidates, but their reputations and demonstrated feats are not equally well established.
How Erza’s armor works
Erza’s armor is not one fixed suit. Her requip magic, called The Knight, lets her switch to weapons and armor stored in another space. That gives her a range of specialized options rather than one universally best set. The character overview identifies several of those armors, while the Nakagami reference and other armor entries describe specific abilities.
The order below weighs reported combat utility, versatility, defensive or offensive specialization, stated power, and drawbacks. It is not a canon-confirmed ranking. A claim that an armor is powerful is not the same as a scene showing it defeat an opponent.
Erza Scarlet’s 10 strongest armors
1. Nakagami Armor
Nakagami is one of the strongest candidates when the measure is stated ability: its reference describes magic dispelling and a peerless sword. The trade-off is substantial, however: using it consumes a vast amount of magic power. That cost makes it a high-impact option, not an effortless answer to every fight. The Nakagami reference supplies these details.

2. Armadura Fairy
Armadura Fairy belongs near the top because the character overview reports that Erza Knightwalker calls it Erza’s strongest armor, and describes its Fairy Burst as a powerful attack. The superlative should be read as Knightwalker’s assessment, not an objective narrator’s verdict or a series-wide ranking. The overview is the source for that characterization.
3. Purgatory Armor
Purgatory has a reputation as one of Erza’s most powerful armors, but its encounter with Ikaruga does not establish how strong it is at full capability: Ikaruga destroys it quickly. That result is a meaningful limitation on what can be claimed from the scene, not proof that the armor has no power. The Purgatory reference reports both its reputation and its destruction.

4. Heaven’s Wheel Armor
Heaven’s Wheel stands out for versatility. Its large deployment of swords makes it suited to facing multiple opponents, giving it a clear crowd-control role. That breadth does not by itself show that it would beat a specialist armor in a one-on-one matchup. The armor reference describes its sword use; the character overview includes it among Erza’s equipment.
5. Adamantine Armor
Adamantine is one of Erza’s named armor sets and is a natural defensive candidate. The available description establishes its inclusion in her repertoire, but does not provide enough verified comparative feat detail to say how it ranks against the leading armors. The character overview names it.

6. Flame Empress Armor
Flame Empress is a specialized set rather than an all-purpose measure of strength. Its value should be judged in the matchups where its elemental properties matter; the overview names the armor, but does not establish a complete comparison of its effects or feats against other sets. The character overview lists it.
7. Lightning Empress Armor
Lightning Empress is another specialist option. A fair ranking would need to distinguish what the armor itself contributes from the weapon or attack used with it. The overview confirms the set’s place in Erza’s collection, but the available detail is not enough to make a precise power comparison. The character overview names it.

8. Black Wing Armor
Black Wing is included among Erza’s armors, but the available description does not establish enough scene-specific evidence to compare its flight or offensive utility with the higher-ranked sets. Its position here is therefore tentative, rather than a claim that it has been shown to lose to them. The overview lists the armor.
9. Sea Empress Armor
Sea Empress is also a named set, but a confident placement would require stronger verification of its water-related matchup or defensive effects in the original material. It remains a plausible situational armor, not a demonstrated contender for the top tier on the evidence described here. The character overview includes it.

10. Clear Heart Clothing
Clear Heart Clothing is an important contrast to the combat-focused entries: the overview describes it as ordinary clothing without special properties, while giving it thematic significance. The clearest comparisons are about role and limitation: Nakagami pairs exceptional stated abilities with a heavy magic-power cost; Heaven’s Wheel offers broad sword deployment against groups; and Purgatory’s reputation must be weighed against its quick destruction by Ikaruga. Armadura Fairy’s place relies on a character’s statement about its strength. For the remaining named sets, the available descriptions do not establish a complete armor-by-armor feat comparison, so their exact order is especially tentative.
