The Mandalorian and Grogu was released in theaters on May 22, 2026. StarWars.com now lists the film as available on digital, 4K Ultra HD and Disney+, though availability may vary by region. Lucasfilm describes it as a stand-alone big-screen continuation of The Mandalorian, with Din Djarin and Grogu enlisted by the New Republic after the fall of the Empire.
Where to watch The Mandalorian and Grogu
The official StarWars.com film page lists digital, 4K Ultra HD and Disney+ as viewing options. Which options are available can depend on your region and may change, so check the official listing for your market. The film’s original theatrical opening has passed; an earlier final-trailer announcement described that release as exclusive to theaters and filmed for IMAX.
What is The Mandalorian and Grogu about?
The Empire has fallen, but Imperial warlords remain scattered across the galaxy. The fledgling New Republic, seeking to protect the gains of the Rebellion, enlists Din Djarin—the Mandalorian bounty hunter—and his young apprentice Grogu. That is the extent of the detailed plot established in the official synopsis; it does not disclose the pair’s full mission, the film’s ending or a complete sequence of events.
Lucasfilm presents the movie as a stand-alone story and the clan of two’s first big-screen adventure, picking up after the Disney+ series The Mandalorian. It is a feature-film continuation of those characters’ story, not a confirmed fourth season. The studio says it is intended to welcome new viewers as well as established fans.

Is this a new season of The Mandalorian?
No. Lucasfilm describes The Mandalorian and Grogu as a stand-alone theatrical story that follows the Disney+ series. That makes it a continuation of Din Djarin and Grogu’s story on film, rather than a confirmed fourth season of the show.

The official synopsis establishes the post-Empire setting, the continuing threat from Imperial warlords and the New Republic’s decision to enlist Din Djarin and Grogu. It does not provide a detailed account of their assignment, identify every antagonist or explain how the story ends. The film’s broader cast and any character assignments beyond the roles listed above should be checked against its full credits rather than inferred from the brief official descriptions.
