Spoilers through the late Shinjuku sequence: Yuji’s first ingestion happens during the school curse incident, and the story later says he has ingested fifteen of Sukuna’s fingers by the end of the Shibuya feeding. That total includes a finger Sukuna eats through a mouth on Yuji’s palm. It does not include the finger Sukuna later removes from Yuji and makes Megumi swallow.
How many of Sukuna’s fingers has Yuji eaten?
The clearest stated total is fifteen: after Nanako and Mimiko force-feed Yuji one finger in Shibuya and Jogo feeds him ten more, the Sukuna synopsis says Yuji has ingested fifteen. The count is Yuji’s story-level ingestion total, not a count of fingers he personally puts in his mouth; one earlier finger is consumed by Sukuna through Yuji’s palm.
Keep that figure separate from the status of all twenty fingers. Later, Sukuna transfers a finger from Yuji into Megumi, and the late Shinjuku reveal distinguishes Yuji’s missing fingers from Sukuna’s actual twentieth finger, which remains at Jujutsu headquarters. Those events do not raise Yuji’s ingestion total.
When does Yuji eat Sukuna’s fingers?
1. The school curse incident: the first finger
At school, Megumi explains that the cursed object is one of Sukuna’s fingers. When a curse threatens Yuji and the occult-club members, Yuji eats it to gain cursed energy and protect them. Sukuna manifests in Yuji, though Yuji is able to regain control. The opening premise is also summarized in VIZ’s official Jujutsu Kaisen, Vol. 1 description.

2. After the execution is postponed: another finger
After Yuji’s execution is postponed, Gojo explains that Sukuna’s fingers cannot be destroyed and that Yuji is expected to consume them before execution. The Sukuna synopsis says Yuji eats another finger the next day.
3. Yasohachi Bridge aftermath: Sukuna eats a recovered finger through Yuji
Megumi retrieves a finger from the curse at Yasohachi Bridge. After the group reunites, Sukuna forms a mouth on Yuji’s palm and eats it. Physically, Sukuna is the one doing the eating; in the story’s accounting, the finger enters Sukuna through Yuji, so it is included among Yuji’s ingestion events.

4. Shibuya: one finger, then ten
Nanako and Mimiko force-feed Yuji one finger they collected. Jogo then feeds him ten. The Sukuna synopsis explicitly gives the resulting total as fifteen fingers ingested by Yuji. That stated total is clearer than trying to reconstruct an exact item-by-item inventory from the summaries.
What happens to the finger Sukuna takes from Yuji?
Later, Sukuna removes one of Yuji’s fingers, transforms it into a cursed object resembling his own finger, and forces Megumi to swallow it. Sukuna then incarnates in Megumi. This is a transfer out of Yuji, not an additional occasion on which Yuji eats a finger.

What does the late Shinjuku reveal clarify?
In the late Shinjuku fight, Yuji reveals two missing fingers concealed by a broken gauntlet. Sukuna realizes the finger Rika consumed had been Yuji’s, not one of his own. His actual twentieth finger was still at Jujutsu headquarters. The distinction matters: Rika’s consumption is not another Yuji ingestion, and Yuji’s two missing fingers should not be confused with Sukuna’s remaining twentieth finger.
The chronology and late-fight details above follow fan-maintained synopses of Yuji and Sukuna. They are useful plot summaries, but they do not establish precise chapter or anime episode numbers for each beat. VIZ’s official chapter catalog provides chapter listings; the catalog itself does not independently verify each event. For readers who want to start from the beginning, VIZ lists the manga’s opening volume in paperback and digital formats, with retailers on the Vol. 1 page.
