Ranked by demonstrated composure, tactical judgment, task execution and ability to work with others, Hwang In-ho is the strongest overall player and Lee Min-su the least convincing under pressure. This is an editorial ranking, not an official Netflix score: the games reward different skills, and survival alone does not prove who is best.
Who is still competing in Season 3?
The 11 contestants in this ranking are Seong Gi-hun (456), Hwang In-ho, also known as the Front Man (001), Lee Myung-gi (333), Kang Dae-ho (388), Cho Hyun-ju (120), Park Yong-sik (007), Jang Geum-ja (149), Kim Jun-hee (222), Seon-nyeo (044), Lee Min-su (125) and Nam-gyu (124). Netflix’s Season 3 cast guide and game rules guide identify the returning competitors and follow Season 2 survivors into the next season. No-eul, Jun-ho and Woo-seok are important characters, but they are not contestants in this ranking.
The Front Man is included because he enters the competition disguised as Player 001. His role and motives make him unlike an ordinary contestant, but his play among the players is central to judging his competitive skill.
How this skill ranking works
“Skill” here means a combination of three things: sound decisions under pressure, physical or technical execution, and the ability to coordinate with others or protect an alliance. The combination matters because the games test different capabilities. Season 2’s Pentathlon is a five-person relay of five mini-games under a five-minute limit; Mingle demands that players form groups of the required size quickly. Season 3 brings a maze and a timed jump-rope crossing. A strong performance in one kind of challenge does not guarantee strength in another.

The ranking weighs demonstrated behavior and experience, not simply who survives. Outcomes also depend on chance, alliances and other players’ choices. Netflix publishes no numeric skill scores or official contestant ranking, so the order below is an editorial judgment based on what the guides and episode accounts establish.

Hwang In-ho / the Front Man (001)
In-ho ranks first for strategic control. A former winner, he enters under a false identity, earns Gi-hun’s trust and covertly works against the rebellion. Few players show comparable ability to read people and shape what they do. That makes him the broadest competitor in this field, although his objective is not simply to win the games as a contestant. Actor Lee Byung-hun described the character’s aim to Netflix Tudum this way: “The Front Man believes that Gi-hun will inevitably change to think just like him.”

Seong Gi-hun (456)
Gi-hun is the only other former winner in the group. His familiarity with Red Light, Green Light lets him recognize the danger and organize others into a safer formation. He is an exceptional leader in a crisis, but the failed rebellion exposes the limits of his planning. Netflix Tudum quotes creator and director Hwang Dong-hyuk describing Gi-hun’s state going into Season 3: “He is in utter despair after losing everything.”

Cho Hyun-ju (120)
Hyun-ju is a dependable all-rounder: she becomes a trusted teammate, protects vulnerable players and adjusts as group circumstances change. Netflix’s cast guide highlights her protective bond with Geum-ja and Jun-hee. Her value is not reducible to a single survival outcome; it comes from combining practical steadiness with strong teamwork.

Lee Myung-gi (333)
Myung-gi is resourceful and capable of adapting socially and tactically. His self-interest and decisions that harm allies, however, weaken his standing as a reliable team player. Netflix describes his past as a cryptocurrency influencer whose choices contributed to financial disaster; that history adds context, but his competitive ranking rests on his conduct in the games.

Kang Dae-ho (388)
Dae-ho’s military background suggests practical experience, and he can function in a team. But when the rebellion depends on him retrieving ammunition, he fails at a crucial moment. The cast guide characterizes that failure as cowardice. His rank reflects the gap between potentially useful experience and reliability under extreme pressure.

Jang Geum-ja (149)
Geum-ja’s strengths are resilience, judgment and relationships. She builds connections and tries to protect others, rather than standing out as a specialist in physical or technical challenges. That social steadiness is a real competitive asset, particularly in games where cooperation determines who gets through.

Nam-gyu (124)
Nam-gyu is aggressive and willing to use violence, which can make him dangerous in direct conflict. But intimidation is not the same as broad game skill: Netflix describes him as someone who bullies weaker players and tries to impress people he considers stronger. His threat level is higher than his evidence of independent judgment or dependable teamwork.

Seon-nyeo (044)
Seon-nyeo is a socially forceful wildcard. Her confidence and unsettling prophecies can affect how people around her behave, but Netflix identifies her as an erratic shaman, not a proven technical or tactical standout. There is less evidence for ranking her on execution or consistent decision-making than there is for most players above her.

Kim Jun-hee (222)
Jun-hee shows resilience and judgment, but pregnancy materially changes what physical tasks can reasonably be expected of her. Her survival also depends in part on the protection and support of allies. Netflix confirms both her pregnancy and her effort to make it through the competition; the available evidence does not establish her as a technical-game specialist.

Park Yong-sik (007)
Yong-sik’s impulsiveness and panic make him unreliable, especially when separated from his mother. Netflix describes him as a compulsive gambler. TheWrap’s recap recounts that he abandons Geum-ja in a panic during Mingle before Gi-hun and In-ho help her. That choice is a clear weakness in a game where quick group decisions and loyalty can determine who survives.

Lee Min-su (125)
Min-su ranks last for demonstrated confidence and action under pressure—not for moral worth. Netflix describes him as shy and struggling to assert himself; TheWrap recounts that he fails to intervene when Se-mi is attacked. The evidence points to hesitation in a dangerous moment, not to a complete scorecard of his abilities across every game.

The lower positions are less certain than the top: the available accounts do not provide a complete, comparable performance record for every contestant. In particular, the order from Geum-ja through Min-su is a judgment about observed behavior and the evidence available, not a measured gap in ability.

Netflix Tudum’s 2025 Season 2 rules guide reports that 91 players were eliminated in Red Light, Green Light, 111 in the Pentathlon and 155 in Mingle; it says 100 participants remained after Mingle. These are round-level totals, not individual performance scores. The same guide says all major characters survive the Pentathlon, but that fact cannot distinguish who performed each relay task best. Mingle, meanwhile, tests rapid group formation and alliances alongside individual judgment, so a player’s result is partly shaped by other people’s decisions.
What the ranking can—and cannot—tell you
The strongest case for In-ho and Gi-hun rests on an unusually clear advantage: both have already won, and both use experience to influence the people around them. Hyun-ju follows as the most convincing team-oriented all-rounder. Below them, the skills become harder to compare: resilience, aggression, social influence and technical execution do not translate neatly into one scale, and the published accounts are not a player-by-player statistical record.
