Go-Jo is the stage name and solo project of Australian singer Marty Zambotto, who represented Australia at Eurovision 2025 with “Milkshake Man.” He grew up on a remote family farm near Manjimup, Western Australia—not, in the available reporting, in Manjimup itself. His theatrical performance opened the second semi-final, but Australia did not qualify for the grand final.
Who is Go-Jo?
Go-Jo is the solo project of singer Marty Zambotto. SBS announced him as Australia’s representative for the 69th Eurovision Song Contest, held in Basel, Switzerland, in May 2025. His entry was “Milkshake Man,” written by Zambotto with Sheppard members George Sheppard, Amy Sheppard and Jason Bovino, and released by Chugg Music and Rix Records. SBS’s announcement also reported that his song “Mrs. Hollywood” had more than 60 million digital streams and one billion views across platforms at the time of publication; those are announcement-time figures, not current totals.
Is Go-Jo from Manjimup?
The reporting establishes a connection through his upbringing: Zambotto grew up on a remote family farm in a rural area just outside Manjimup, in Western Australia’s South West. ABC describes his childhood as off-grid and reports that he credited it with shaping his individuality. The sources cited here do not establish that he was born in Manjimup. In an ABC interview published 15 May 2025, he reflected on how that upbringing informed who he became.
What does “Milkshake Man” mean?
The song’s playful, suggestive surface is not the whole message Zambotto described. Asked in the ABC interview whether it was a sexual euphemism, he said: “It’s all about self-confidence and self-expression and feeling comfortable with who you are — being the loudest and proudest version of yourself.” That is his explanation of the song’s deeper meaning: the milkshake character is a playful vehicle for confidence and self-expression.

The interview also quotes the lyric “The shake is not a drink it’s a state of mind.” It is presented there as a lyric, rather than a separate statement by Zambotto.

Go-Jo opened the second semi-final with “Milkshake Man,” but Australia did not advance to the grand final. SBS described the staging as theatrical, with three accompanying performers and a four-metre blender. SBS’s semi-final report and ABC’s report on Australia’s result establish the non-qualification; they do not support assigning a precise placing or score here.
