There is no official Power Rangers ranking that establishes one color as universally strongest. This is an editorial comparison of the colors based on the kinds of combat power their Rangers demonstrate—not a canon hierarchy. Because each color appears across different teams, powers, upgrades, and continuities, the ranking is necessarily approximate.
For this comparison, “strength” means a Ranger’s demonstrated ability to fight and overcome threats. Leadership, popularity, story prominence, and usefulness to a team count only when they translate into combat capability. Individual characters and versions matter more than the color they wear.
How to read this ranking
The ranking weighs four things: demonstrated combat ability, special powers and versatility, upgrades or battle modes, and how consistently a Ranger can use those advantages. Team resources, temporary power-ups, Zords, and alternate continuities can change the outcome, so they should not be mistaken for a color’s inherent advantage. Evidence is also uneven: different series do not offer a shared test or comparable measure of strength.
That distinction matters even within one character’s history. Tommy Oliver has appeared in multiple forms, and ComicBook.com’s discussion of his forms illustrates why a fair comparison must identify which version is being considered. Likewise, rankings of Red Rangers by Den of Geek and ComicBook.com are editorial judgments about individual characters, not measurements proving that Red is strongest.

Every Power Rangers color, ranked by strength
The placements below are broad editorial estimates, not official franchise canon. They rank colors as recurring categories, while recognizing that a particular Ranger, season, or powered-up form can overturn the order.
1. Red
Red takes the top spot as the strongest overall color in this editorial ranking because the color is repeatedly associated with Rangers who receive major combat responsibilities and prominent powers. That is a pattern, not proof that every Red Ranger outclasses every other Ranger. Leadership alone does not make a character stronger, and a specific Blue, Green, Black, Pink, or Yellow Ranger may have better feats or a more potent power set in a particular story.

Hasbro’s Mighty Morphin Red Ranger Morphin Hero product description says Red “leads the Mighty Morphin Power Rangers team and uses his powers to battle his enemies.” That describes Red’s team role; it does not say Red is the strongest Ranger. The same care applies to other character rankings: leadership and resilience can make a Ranger compelling without serving as standardized combat evidence.
2. Green
Green ranks near the top because some Rangers in the color are associated with distinctive powers, alternate forms, or upgrades that can give them a high ceiling in battle. The qualification is important: a special form is not the same as a base-form advantage, and a power that appears in one character’s story cannot automatically be assigned to every Green Ranger. 3. Black
Black earns a strong middle-to-upper placement for the combat capability and versatility represented by Rangers in the color. But the available evidence does not establish a single signature advantage that applies across teams. A Black Ranger’s actual standing depends on the opponent, the abilities shown in that series, and whether the comparison includes temporary upgrades or team support.
4. Blue
Blue Rangers can be formidable fighters, and a particular Blue Ranger may have specialized abilities or a record that puts them above characters ranked higher here. As a color-wide category, though, Blue has no documented universal strength measure to separate it from the neighboring placements. The ranking reflects an editorial estimate, not a consistent rule of the franchise.

5. Yellow
Yellow places fifth in this broad comparison, not because the color implies weakness, but because color alone offers too little evidence for a reliable power advantage. Individual Yellow Rangers may be exceptionally capable; their feats, powers, and limits should determine that character-level judgment rather than assumptions about the suit.
6. Pink
Pink rounds out this particular color-wide order. That placement should not be read as a claim that Pink Rangers are weak: it reflects the limits of comparing recurring colors across stories that use different threats, power sources, and standards for showing combat ability. A Pink Ranger with stronger demonstrated feats or a decisive special ability can outrank any placement in this broad list.

Why the colors cannot be measured on one official scale
The reviewed sources do not establish an official franchise-wide hierarchy of Ranger colors. Editorial rankings focus on selected characters and make their own scope choices. Den of Geek, for example, frames its list around Red Rangers from television and movies; ComicBook.com offers an authored selection based on character merits. Those lists can illustrate how to compare specific Rangers, but they do not supply a cross-color strength scale.
A community poll that displays Red, Black, Blue, Green, Pink, and Yellow in that order reports audience ratings, not combat ability. Preference is not proof of power, so poll order should not be used to validate a strength ranking.
What makes a fair Ranger-versus-Ranger comparison
For a more precise comparison, name the Ranger and the version being judged, then separate the evidence into these categories:
- Combat feats: What threats did the Ranger defeat, and were the opponents reasonably comparable?
- Power set: What special abilities does the character have, and how useful are they in a fight?
- Upgrades: Is the comparison about the base form or a named, temporary, or otherwise enhanced mode?
- Consistency and limits: Can the Ranger use the advantage repeatedly, and what restrictions or vulnerabilities are shown?
- Continuity and support: Does the comparison include films, comics, Zords, or help from teammates, or only the character’s own powers in a particular television story?
Changing any of these boundaries can change the result. A character’s peak form may be more powerful than another’s base form, but that does not mean the character’s color is stronger overall. Nor does a team victory automatically establish which member contributed the most combat power.
Do Ranger figures tell you which color is strongest?
No. Action figures and collectibles are products, not evidence about in-universe power. Hasbro’s Mighty Morphin Metallic Red Ranger Lightning Collection figure is described as a 6-inch collectible with more than 20 points of articulation and accessories including a Power Sword and Blade Blaster. Those are product features, not a strength ranking or evidence that Red outranks other colors.
