She called her conduct with then-CEO Andy Byron inappropriate and said she accepted responsibility by giving up her career. Her account does not establish the online speculation that the brief clip proved they were having an affair.
What happened at the Coldplay concert?
On July 16, 2025, an audience-camera segment at a Coldplay concert at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Massachusetts, showed Astronomer CEO Andy Byron embracing Kristin Cabot, then the company’s chief people officer. When they realized they were on the stadium screen, they moved away from the camera. Lead singer Chris Martin joked, “Either they’re having an affair or they’re just very shy.” The clip prompted widespread speculation, but a short video and a joke do not establish the nature of their private relationship. The Associated Press reported the event and identified the executives.

Foxborough is the location; some coverage used “Boston” as shorthand. The Guardian also clarified the location while reporting on Astronomer’s response.
What did Kristin Cabot say in her first public interview?
In an interview published December 18, 2025, Cabot described her own behavior this way: “I made a bad decision and had a couple of High Noons and danced and acted inappropriately with my boss. And it’s not nothing. I took accountability and I gave up my career for that. That’s the price I chose to pay.” The statement is her account of her conduct and how she views its consequences; it is not independent confirmation of an affair.

Cabot said she was newly separated from her husband at the time. She also said Byron was separated from his spouse. Both are statements she made in the interview, not independently established findings about either marriage. ABC News published her interview and account.
What happened at Astronomer after the video?
Astronomer said its board had initiated a formal investigation and denied that Byron had issued an apology circulating online. The company said, “Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both conduct and accountability, and recently, that standard was not met.” Byron resigned, and Cabot resigned several days later. Cofounder and chief product officer Pete DeJoy was named interim CEO while the company searched for a successor. The Associated Press reported the company’s actions and interim leadership; The Guardian covered the investigation announcement and the false online claims. ITV News reported Cabot’s resignation.

What did Cabot say about threats and her family?
Cabot estimated that she received between 50 and 60 death threats. That figure is her reported estimate, not an independently verified count. She said her children feared that she and they might die, and said she wanted them to understand that people can make serious mistakes without deserving threats of violence. In the interview, she put it this way: “I want my kids to know that you can make mistakes, and you can really screw up. But you don’t have to be threatened to be killed for them.” ABC News reported her account; the Los Angeles Times also summarized the attributed threat estimate.

Cabot said she and Byron remained in contact immediately after the video spread, but had minimal contact since September 2025. She said further contact would make it harder for everyone to move on and heal. Byron declined to be interviewed by The New York Times, according to ABC News’ account of the interview. The available public account therefore does not independently establish the executives’ private relationship history.
