At its August 10, 2024, D23 showcase, Disney outlined planned additions for its theme parks, cruise line and digital partnership with Epic Games. The announcements covered projects at Walt Disney World and Disneyland Resort, international parks, four cruise ships, and a connected Disney digital universe. They describe what Disney announced in 2024—not what is confirmed open or on schedule today.
What Disney said it was announcing
Disney Experiences Chairman Josh D’Amaro hosted the showcase during D23: The Ultimate Disney Fan Event. In its official recap, Disney counted six themed lands or areas, 14 new attractions, five shows or nighttime spectaculars, and four new cruise ships. Those are Disney’s own announcement totals, not independently audited counts. Disney’s August 10, 2024, showcase recap is the source for the slate and its descriptions.
The plans spanned theme parks in Florida and California, parks in Paris and Asia, the Disney Cruise Line fleet, and a digital collaboration with Epic Games. The timing below reflects statements made in 2024; it does not establish present construction progress, opening dates, or availability.
Walt Disney World: planned lands, rides and a parade
Magic Kingdom: Cars and Villains
Disney announced a Cars area in a reimagined section of Frontierland, with two attractions: an off-road rally race and a family-friendly ride. The showcase recap noted that Disney’s Cars franchise had reached $1.4 billion in global box office; that figure was Disney’s own statement, not a separately verified financial analysis. Disney’s parks-and-resorts recap provides the franchise figure and additional project details.

No current construction, opening, postponement or operating status can be established from that announcement alone.
