Sofia Richie Grainge’s husband is Elliot Grainge, a British-born music executive who founded Los Angeles record label 10K Projects in 2016. He is also the son of Universal Music Group chairman and CEO Sir Lucian Grainge. The “mysterious” label can be misleading: public reporting describes his career and family background, though he keeps much of his private life out of view.
Who is Elliot Grainge?
Grainge is a music executive and entrepreneur. According to a Los Angeles Times profile published April 20, 2023, he was born in Britain, graduated from Northeastern University, and founded the Los Angeles-based label 10K Projects in 2016.
His father, Sir Lucian Grainge, is chairman and chief executive of Universal Music Group. That connection is part of Elliot’s background, but his public career has centered on building and running 10K Projects.
What does he do at 10K Projects?
10K Projects works with recording artists and producers. In its September 5, 2023 announcement of a joint venture with the label, Warner Music Group described 10K as a standalone label within WMG’s ecosystem and said Grainge would remain its CEO. That describes the arrangement announced in 2023; it does not establish the label’s leadership structure in 2026.

The announcement named Trippie Redd, Iann Dior, Internet Money, and Ice Spice among 10K’s artists at the time. WMG also said the team had delivered “30 platinum-certified hits.” Separately, the Los Angeles Times reported in April 2023 that more than 30 singles released through 10K had been certified platinum. Those are dated figures from different sources, not a current combined tally.
Grainge has described his approach as giving artists room to make creative decisions. In the Los Angeles Times profile, he said, “No one was telling Picasso to paint the ear on the left-hand side.” The profile also discusses the appeal of major-label resources: independent-label flexibility and major-label infrastructure are not necessarily opposites. The right balance depends on an artist’s needs and the terms of a particular deal.
WMG’s 2023 announcement highlighted Internet Money’s “Lemonade,” saying it had passed one billion Spotify streams. That is the company’s figure from the announcement, not a current independently verified count.
How did Elliot Grainge and Sofia Richie meet?
British Vogue’s April 24, 2023 wedding feature says the families had known each other for more than 20 years and that mutual friends introduced the couple. Richie later described knowing Grainge as a friend before their relationship became romantic. In an interview with Who What Wear, reported by The Independent on August 3, 2023, she said she felt appreciated and called being with him “a feeling of safety.” Those are Richie’s descriptions of her own experience.

When did they get engaged and married?
Grainge proposed in Hawaii in April 2022, after about a year of dating, according to British Vogue. Richie recalled the proposal as a surprise trip with friends and said it happened at golden hour.
The couple married in April 2023 at Hotel du Cap-Eden-Roc in Antibes, France. British Vogue’s coverage noted Richie’s custom Chanel looks and the long-standing connection between their families.

What is publicly known about their life together?
Public coverage offers a clear outline of Grainge’s work and the couple’s relationship milestones, but it is not a full account of their private lives. For example, a July 25, 2023 Vogue portrait of Richie provides a dated glimpse of her projects and life after the wedding; it should not be treated as a current account of the couple’s circumstances.
There is no need to fill gaps with speculation. The available reporting establishes the relationship timeline, wedding, family connection, and Grainge’s music-business work through 2023; it does not verify later family developments or the current leadership arrangement at 10K Projects.
